Following my engine fire At Classic Le Mans this year I feared the worse as the engine had no grunt under load. Some weeks coming to terms with the likely expensive engine rebuild I thought I better get stuck in and have a look. Cylinder leakage good and no horrible noises, so pleased.
What I have discovered is the Venturi diffusers on the Solex 40 P11's have melted into blobs of alloy chewing gum.
Has anybody got an old Solex 40 P11 carb or better still a couple of Diffusers. Alternativly any advice on where I may get parts for Solex Cars. Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Mike
Thanks Mike your a star, yes was running K&N and was going to stick with them, your thoughts?
My fire was caused I think by plug lead coming off, causing push rod to dislodge, big back fire, hot engine, fumes detonated by loose lead, I think. K&N also caught fire. Lucky I had an extinguisher at hand.
Will pm address, let me know how much. I owe you.
Cheers Paul
