We dropped the tyre pressures to peters preferred levels and it made everything a lot less twitchy, way better but still not perfect .... Tyres aren't helping, but also dropped in at a garage owned by a lad called Simon who knows what he's doing , and I'm going to get him to double check things and tweek the settings .

I tyre pressure is important and on all Porsches I run them 5/6 psi less than recommended tyres are shite but james real problem is the car sits like bambi the legs are all over my taste is as much neg as poss all round and max toe in to rear slight toe to front James front ride hight also needs to come down its a case of if it looks right by eye it's not far wrong just accurate setting then when on ramp simon will kick it into shape I got him to sort out Jason's car and now he says it's a pleasure to drive peter

I'll know soon enough ... just need to get all my headlights back up & running
I was happy with CofG's work, but from the outset the car felt too twitchy on high speed bends with me constantly having to correct the steering through the bend.
Going to see what Simon can set it up like & see how it goes from there .....

In my newly qualified status as headlight electrician, I can thoroughly recommend that you ensure the ignition is actually on before thinking your headlights are busted..hot66 wrote:I'll know soon enough ... just need to get all my headlights back up & running

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
went for a drive....thanks to the fact that it now worked...did a full on checking and diagnostic, ended up with 1 duff HT lead connector and suspect failed points, by which times I had done the following.....
new distributer cap
new rotor arm
new points
new brass connectors to the distributer end of the HT leads
all earth wires in the engine bay removed, cleaned and reassembled
CDI box and coil swopped with spares to cheek fully functioning
feels good to get her functioning back to normal.....so gave her a wash

Took a run up to Knockhill and got sandwiched in between these two bad boys.

Got in a few shotgun rides, which was great but the track was very busy.

.
Still messing about trying to work out a suitable air filter system for my 904 so, for occasions when I'm running open trumpets, I made up a cheap set of covers :

- total cost was less than £5 ...
Anyone spot my deliberate mistake ?
