goodwood revival

For anyone who is interested; every year the Richard Burns Foundation organise charity collections at the Revival and Festival of Speed. Lord March selects a different charity to benefit at each event.

This year the collection at the Revival is in aid of the Fly Navy Heritage Trust who keep the Swordfish, Sea Fury, Sea Hawk and Firefly in the air. I think there's a certain popular American driver being nominated for the US Presidency this year as well and we'll be raising campaign funds...

I've been waving a collection bucket at the Goodwood events for a few years now. I enjoy it because its completely different to my normal office-type job, I get to meet all sorts of interesting people, and it feels good doing some voluntary work. Believe me, its a lot less soul destroying than chugging in the High Street on a Saturday morning! In addition, in exchange for a couple of hours of my time each day, I get a 'free' pass for the event.

Hi,

I'll be going with the family for the first time this year, only doing friday as its quieter for the kids. We'll be in two cars, 356 in the classic parking and the Audi miles away.

I just had a cheeky thought, are there any GRRC members around on friday (tomorrow) who might be willing to lend me their lapel badge for short while so I can slip into the paddock? Had to let my membership go this year.

We are going on Sunday in the 356 with tots all decked out in 60's finest. First time at the Revival, having had a few trips to the Festival of Speed. Good chance to blow the cobwebs out of the old girl, and the timing is perfect as it is the Registry's "Drive Your 356 Day".

Another great day on Friday and a bonus not to break down on the way home as I did last year.

Too many amazing cars to mention just in the carpark - spotted lots of 911s, 356s, a few 912s and a yellow Swedish? RS. Pretty much any other car you could think of as well from the common to the incredibly rare.

A few of my pics - too much to see in just one day.

Amazing to see these cars all together and up-close. The level of preparation was fantastic.

The already well documented Auto Union / Silver Arrows garage:

We know the guy that runs one of the cars. It cost his client £100,000 to bring the car over from the US (air freight, natch). The car itself cost him £50 million so I guess it's all relative.
