A romantic idea but it would be madness these days. That's a sixties camera. Rather like driving an early 911 as your 'daily'.

Finding film is getting harder though.

Coincidentally I spent the day at Brick Lane & the old Spitalfields market yesterday and I couldn't believe how many stands were dedicated to 35mm, cine & Polaroid cameras.

Very popular they were too and with many people like me gazing on nostalgically.

Madness? Certainly not! If you really, really, want people to say, 'Wow, what a great photograph', buy some XP2 Super, shoot a roll, and get it processed to CD at your local shop. Seriously, people have forgotten what film photographs look like, and you'll be amazed at the latitude, tones, depth-of-field, and just overall 'photography' look of your photographs.

Says the man who used to have a 356 as his daily... Especially with such a tasty F and that lens! Non-Porsche on XP2 photograph included too...

I've used film for 40 years, developed all my own stuff - B&W and colour (even E6) - but I'm a digital convert now.
No more rocking dev trays in the dark thanks.

Thanks for the great photo. 1967, then it's no doubt been rebuilt a few times since then or the parts used to create two cars with the same identity (apparently of the 50 RHD GTAs built only 70 survive).
I drove Richard Bank's Stradale (wonderful car) a few years back, it was then fitted with twin Webber 45s, gave about 170bhp (all up at the top of the rev range) and was a little lumpy at low revs (its now back on 40s and far easer to drive) and fell in love with it, fab steering, great exhaust note and very fast around town if you had a heavy right foot. At the time I had a 64 Sprint GT as a daily driver ( a nice car, fitted with lots of Alfaholics trick bits) and was amazed at the difference in the way the GTA steered and handled, far more than the engine (I had expected the engine to be the cars big plus over a sprint), so once again we fine the use of aluminium and a lack of weight is the way forward.

E6 is impressive. I know how you feel though! Its been many years since I got my fingers smelly. That's why I cheat with lab developed C-41 color and B&W scanned for me... Wimp I know. You should try Kodak's new Ektar for fun...

Perhaps not always true, but in Tokyo the high-end digital stuff is generally carried by tourists, and oldies. Like slow food, film if not running a resurgence is certainly holding its own at least a little bit. There are two of me and my cameras on Tokyo Camera Style, so I know it well! Non-Porsche on film for the rest of the thread readers...

Here here! I also used to develop and print my own B&W photos, digital opened up a whole new world no more locked a dark room, smelly chemicals and the unknown results.

Digital is easy and lazy.
Film is the opposite. Developed my own B&W and Ektachrome slides in the past (real chemicals...)
Have 3 B&W rolls in 'stock' and a clutch of vintage/60's cameras.

Trouble is they weigh a ton!
Someone I know who teaches Photography has students who have only done digital, however...when they find film they are blown away with the chances and the challenge!
