Time for someone else to take the wheel..

Hi there,

Just a heads up that my 1955 PreA speedster is for sale.Hate to do this but conflicting priorities mean I just dont get much time to use it( 22 miles in 3 years....).Well known car ,previously cared for by Andy Prill.I've owned it for 11 years and loved it.Always reliable and always gets smiles, been on many continental runs with no issues.
*Currently 1720 912 built by Andy, matching number original engine included(I have never run it with this engine ,but it turns freely and is complete).
*coupe gearbox with longer ratios(original speedster box included with gears etc)
*6x16" wheels available
*very rare Plasticon hardtop(original 50's accessory from California)
*spare drivers door if required-this is wall art to me!!
*various other spares included
*original mileage 47500miles (yes-that is from new)
*magazine featured in ultra VW and porsche&911 and pictured in many other magazines.
*original buckets and floorboards ,also soft top as supplied new-fabric is original!
*superb patina in black(was originally supplied in white ,then colourchanged by Ernie gregory of AFN in '67)

A really solid ,absolutley honest, perfect gap, character car.Repaint it or leave it wearing its history...
(car is currently in NZ but is still registered with original plate in the UK. No duties or VAT to pay and shipping will be arranged and paid for (sea Freight)in the price.)

PM or email " speedsterboy@hotmail.com "
I have owned another speedster and a convertible D which came and went-this car was always the one that was supposed to stay....but now its somebody elses chance.

So much more to tell so contact for details.

Fingers crossed for my numbers to come up this week.

My favourite 356

So honest, so cool and with the story of your acquisition woes this must be a very hard decision to make.

I would have to ask, so I definitely cannot afford it :)

It's a truely lovely thing, and one that must remain as it is.

Hi all,
thanks to those who have commented and shown interest. As with so many of these cars for sale-I am happy to discuss price with those seriously interested.I notice most dealers with few exceptions wont publish prices.
No ..it is not cheap. It is priced as you would expect a low mileage,PreA,all original panel, matching number, good accessories, great spares package car should be.
Sorry if this is not at all helpful -but please contact me directly and I will be only too happy to discuss price.

Those who have already contacted me should by now have recieved my reply.

thanks
Ralph

Hi,
Yes this is the car that Carl and Eric Studer co-owned.Eric had looked after it for the previous owner and when he decided to sell he would only sell it to Eric. This is why Eric had to remain a part owner-although Carl paid the Lions share.
I first saw it in the back of Carls workshop absolutely covered in dust-awesome photos I took that day.Long winded and complicated purchase but oh-so worth it.How is Carl?

Thanks

And here, a private listing confirms the value of these cars.

Oh my, such a rare opportunity, good luck with the sale.

Mike.

(Who has just sold his property and is wondering how it would be to live in a Pre A instead. :) )

Carl is fine - no Porsche projects at the moment though.

He had an interesting concept with the 'restoration' of that car - sort out everthing that you don't see. He even managed to keep that thick layer of dust over the car, not washing it for the entire period of his ownership. 10 years ago - wow.

My asking price is around that of the two cars mentioned. With the spares and 2 engines etc. If I cant get that price now I will hang on (probably wont take long) for the market to get to this point.I have had an offer close to what I want but Im not in a hurry.
Patina versus restored is always going to be a good conversation........

Its obvious which side of the fence I sit on..

I like the look of this car so much that I have purchased some sprintstars for my 356A ! Not quite the same on a coupe but a homage non the less to this wonderful Speedster.
