Utter bollox. I hate that namby-arse attitude to classic cars. They're for ragging the arse off when the moment takes you. Breaking and mending in a pool of oil and ally filings. Washing, polishing, stroking and caressing just that little bit too unnaturally. Causing pain and wincing as you drag the lawnmower past too closely. Passion and elation as you open the garage door on a shitty day... but once the time dawns to sell, you're not about to give it away to the well-spoken gent in the Hush Puppies no matter how much you self-satisfactorily bang on about your custody of it. A catch all phrase for a cop-out situation. Grow up

Hi. Please bear with me. If you are still interested I'm the 911s. Then now prepared to sell it. My son is now to busy with university to get involved in it's restoration. I have purchased somemore items for it stainless headers some engine bits the correct front bumper skirt new. Some rubbers a new alumin rear valance etc. I thoght that as you had been the highest bidder I should come back to you and offer it to you. I have spent a fair bit on new peices and I will be looking at £20k for it. It has all matching numbers etc.

I'm not a lawyer but I think legally this could be fun. First you cancel a contract single sided and then you offer again for a higher price. In Dutch we call this an a..h..e

As I recall the final bid was 17.3 k not 16k as suggested. I have spent around 3k on further bits for the car including a new front bumper panel genuine porsche a new rear panel aluminium as the original. New stainless steel heat exchangers , some engine bits and pieces rubbers etc. As I had intended to restore it with one of my kids. This is why I offered it for sale to the original highest bidder at his original bid price plus the additional expense of the additional parts. It may seem strange to you all but I thought I should at least give him the first opportunity to buy it at his original price plus the additional item costs all items he would have to purchase to restore the car. It will be cleaned up a bit photographed and put back up for sale. It will have a reserve on it and if it does not reach that it will just be put away again in store to await the time that one of my kids decides they want to have a bash at restoring it or disposing of it.

The vehicle has now been sold to a member of ddk who I am sure will appreciate it and restore it to its former condition. A lot of new parts went with the car and I wish him well. He was after all the only person from ddk that I had any contact with and I stress contact with that was living in the real world. He has had to dig hard to buy the car and I am sure he will do a good job of the restoration it is good to see it go to someone who will undertake the work himself rather than be a cheque book restorer.
Also some members need to get a grip on reality and should perhaps re-read what they have posted not about me but in general and remember that for some people it is just a hobby and not an obsession. It is supose to be fun. To all those genuine restorers with a genuine love of their cars keep it going it is you who are the real caretakers of our heritage for the others see the doctor Im sure you can get some tablets to stop your p**s boiling.

I'm more interested in who's bought it and seeing it restored than the poor form in the way the original sale was handled.

The seller called me today (my first contact with him BTW) with a view to getting the car restored himself. |
