Cool car,but it's got a 1964 reg,and says it was registered in 1959. I thought this could not be done.

Hi Dougie, back in those days, if you imported a car, it invariably got the registration of the year it was imported. I once brought a '73 (would have been suffix M reg), Vauxhall 2300 Magnum in from Jersey. It was 1981 so it got a "W".

doesn't matter though ..... you can't use a plate to make a car appear newer than it really is ..... eg you can't put a new 09 plate on to a 2005 car etc etc , so in this case you can't put a 1964 B plate onto a car built & 1st registered in 1959 ( no prefix year )58herbie wrote:could be the plate has been bought as a private plate.
POR...(porsche) 356 ...B ( T5b)
just a guess.

Of course as mentioned by Steve, back in the day cars were given the reg from the year they were imported into the UK. My 1966 beetle imported from Germany in 1977 was given an "S" plate

Although it does say it was delivered new by AFN...........
However, back in the days when more things were done by the old boy network than by jobsworths, a lot more little things like this were possible.
Cheers!

Yes, back in the day these things were possible. I have old photos of UK 356s with so called later registrations (I think one was on a "T")!
