4.5" x 15" Fuchs

Post by marineboy »

Hope you guys can help me, does anyone have any ideas on how much I should pay for a set of 4 that would require full refinishing?

Also as they seem pretty elusive what cars were they fitted to and which years?

4.5 x 15s only appeared on the 1967 911 'S' so yep pretty rare, price is quite tricky but expect to pay at least £1600 - £2000 for a set that needs a light refurb I would say.

Thanks Timo, would you know what part no. should be cast or stamped into the rear of one of the spokes?

Also are there any other manufacturers marking I should look out for just to make sure they are genuine Porsche parts?

Early in the manufacturing year the 4.5 used ink stamps so don't be surprised to find them with no part numbers but they should have the fox/date stamp.

As alan says the early ones had the fox stamped onto them and the forgers often ground off any other numbers as it was purely there numbers rather than Porsches.

Don't expect to see many fakes about - until not long ago they had little value....now though they are mad money. £2k upwards is going to get you a set that needs restoring and expect to pay another £1k to restore properley.

Bagio has some odd ones still i think and could put a set together for you probably...but as I say it will be prices as above.

might be worth contacting kinky mick - http://www.kinkymicks.com/

i know he does get them from time to time. it is probably also an idea to contact him personally as his 'special' wheel stash often fails to make the web site .

there is also the chance that if he doesnt have any , he will know someone who does
:)

i am expecting him at chateau steve later this week - he is turning up to leer at my 356 rims

Thanks for the replies.

What about 4.5" x 14" are these just as expensive or a little less painful on the wallet and if so what sort of price is reasonable for a set needing full refurbishing?

Also which model car and years were these fitted to?

No such wheel, 14" fuchs only ever came in 5.5" width and are probably the least sought after size fuch made therefore you'd pic up a nice set for £400 and probably a bit less for a set that needs refurbing. 14" fuchs were available as a comfort option, I'm not sure exactly on dates but think they were from 68 - 70?

In no rush to sell but might be persuaded in selling.
