And the fastest car on the day was a Ford Puma Gould Extrac 4WD with a 2.2L turbo motor, running mid 9s at 150 mph!

Yep, Rod's correct. An AC Frua Fastback.
Very similar styling to the Maserati Mistral.
Always a rare car and, as Vic said, now even rarer thanks to the philistines that converted some cars into Cobras.

I loved the car. I liked the racer touches, the roundels, the stickers, the lexan windows, the rivets, the rubber tie-downs, the NACA vents, the bubble vents, the flares, the spoilers, the wheels, etc, etc.
More of that to come on my ST.

My ST was built in the spirit of a factory racer but road legal. Tuned for fun on the strip and round the track but able to drive home.
I was walking along the Brighton seafront early yesterday evening and I heard a lovely V8 rumble. I turned to see that AC fastback driving home on the queens highway. Wonderful.

I was there, really enjoyed it.

Was it a full quarter? Considering the lack of grip off the line the numbers seemed very low.

I had a good poke round that puma, very well engineered, and very quick, but i just dont quite 'get it', i cant really see what its built for, which race series could you enter it in? Certainly a lot of money spent on a bit of anomaly as far as i can see.

Fantastic event as usual. I agree with all the positive comments on the AC. I think it was a bit of a flop originally, and never really escaped the shadow of the Cobra. Same engine as the Cob - 427 or 428 cubic inches later on. I think they are gorgeous - and this particular one was fab.

The Puma wins most years down here - nothing really gets close to it! It is insanely quick.

Its the bikes that scare me though - sub 9 secs and terminal speeds of 160mph+. Its a pretty bumpy track and not very grippy, so those boys have giant cojones imho!

It's owned and built by Mike Endean, MD of Gould Engineering, to show just how good their cars are. It apparently has 1000 bhp.

No, I don't know what this is either...
Its an extremely quick hill climb car - I think with a supercharged or turbo charged 1000 cc engine. Ian McMath will know its name.

And a slot to put the coins ?
Nice pictures, looks like a great day. Shame we only had the Lake District, and parts of Yorkshire to look at !
