Boot Carpet - attaching
Hi
I have just unwrapped my new boot carpet and now I'm wondering how the vertical front panel will fit......... are these spray mounted??
(set came with the main carpet, sides and a front panel)
Cheers

as far as i am aware.
boot carpets are just loose so you can get to spare wheel, tools & fuses.
although some do come with little leather straps or/and press stud fixings. so that one section of the carpet fixes to another section and thus stop any slipping.
this is not a very tidy example but is from the correct year 911 and might give you the idea.

Hi Fraser - 4 Pieces ??
I think they're usually just 3 pieces - 2 sides, and 1 main piece which covers the horizonal and vertical - and certainly in my case - snap fastners across the top edge for the main piece and snap fastners along the inside edges of the wings for the side pieces.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Sean

the above set is 4 peices.
2x side bits, short front section to gives access to spare wheel (can be seen in bottom of above picture & should be tucked in neater than shown) then long middle section which had little leather straps to stop the back edge of the carpet slipping down.
i think it depends who the supplier is. designs seem to vary.

Just consulted the bible.... aka "The 911 & 912 Porsche, A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity" by Dr B Johnson............ forgot I had a copy!
" For 1969 things changed. A fourth, front piece was found glued to the inside of the inner nose covering the washer bottle. The main floor piece attached at the rear by snaps rather than straps. Side pieces also attached by snaps.................." p 42...
A project for the a.m.

The other difference with the replacements as opposed to the Factory original carpet pieces for the trunk is that the main original piece had a 'pocket' on the underside to accept a thin shaped plywood 'insert' that sat over the spare wheel.

In case it helps we also make an exact replica carpet kit both for SWB and LWB cars. I will add them to our web site soon. Our trunk kit includes the leather straps for SWB cars and for LWB the 4 items, plus pocket, and also the poppers on the rear and the 3 poppers per side. We are also making the dash rear panel which covers all the wiring. These should be ready in a few weeks.
Thanks
