having spent some 'quality time' getting to know this 912 i feel i am in a better position to list its virtues (rather than just adding a few pictures and a price)
The car was in daily use stateside,and has been subject to some proper porsche maintainance-rather than simply being kept on the road .
Items worth noting are; a total engine rebuild-with weber carb conversion - i have been informed the motor was built professionally and upgraded to 1720 cc all motor componants are as new-pushrod tubes,case etc etc (although i have no 'paper' proof to back this up-the car was bought from a reliable and respected porsche trader-and it certainly has plenty of power, and remarkably lots of torque-which i wasnt expecting!)
other nods to ongoing maintainance are - new brake discs/pads/goodrich hoses throughout.
new uprated dampers throughout
new aftermarket exhaust
new tyres
new/or good o/g rubbers and trim etc
the basic car is free from structural corrosion, has had a good quality paint job (rubbers out etc) and all panel fit etc is excellent.The car is very presentable and draws admiring responses in the most mundane of locations (petrol station/waitrose car part etc... )
The car drives really well, and surprised me with the performance and solid feel on the road, all gears select easily and are free from the problems often associated with the 901 boxes. Having stepped out of my 911 hot rod,straight into the 12' i was expecting a fun factor of 0 -in total honesty the car was /and is a hoot to drive -very easy,and dare I say more suited to a daily driver than my 911
Everything works -heaters,fans,interior lights etc, no mean feat on an early porsche (although perhaps the clock is an exception)the interior is essentially original, the odd dash crack,small tear or two to the drivers seat and non standard stereo/booster being the only distractions.
The carpet is original, and in good order as is the luggage compartment -but lets be honest neither would win a concours contest -even if they are above average .
overall it is a very competant package- fresh strong motor,good underpinnings,good trim,chrome and panel fit -but best of all it drives really nicely-so nice it is one of those cars you tend to create journeys for-and certainly one in which you would take the long way home !
It isnt perfect, but if you are not hung up on FSH,cracked dashes or original paint it is a very good 912-well sorted in the places you really want it to be , it looks fantastic,and will provide years of service without falling to bits or requiring constant attention.

work required >IMHO-
door mirror needs replacing with a durant or similar,and the rubber closing strips between the rear light units and the corner bumper sections are in need of replacement .
Perhaps a pair of over riders for the front ... spare wheel ,polish/detail the others and fit a centre cap
