To identify fuchs, check the backside of the wheel
It should have a Porsche number in one of the "spokes":
- 911.361.020.01 for 7" 1971-1973
- 911.361.020.11 1973-1976
- 911.361.020.41 1976-1983

Maybe you can check if the tanksupport is replaced somewhere in its lifetime. If it has not been done properly, it might give you a wrong setup.

Perhaps you can measure the diffrence right and left, by taping a string with a weight to the side of the wheelarch vertically and measure horizontally what the distance between the hub left and right is when crossing the string.

You might have a repro fender. I have one on my targa and there the right hand side also has clearance issues with 195/65/15 tires. No such problems on the left side. Also my 73 coupe has 205/60/15 on the front without any problems

So checked the wheels, they say:
911 361 020 AS10 62

Dunno what that means!

Rough and ready offset measurement gives about 23mm.

911 361 020 is the part number for a regular 6x15 fuchs

I think AS1062 indicates the aluminium alloy used for the wheels

ahh, just realised they also have a 41 which makes them 76-83 wheels. A page from Bill Verburg gives the offset as 23.3mm. Not bad measurement!

So the 6" wheel has an offset of 36mm v
my 7" wheel has an offset of 23 mm

I think that means that in comparison with a 6" wheel, the tyres wall is roughly 1/2" plus 23 mm further out. Approx 1.5 inches further out.

Bill's page also lists the 901.361.012.05 which has an offset of 49 which "allows larger tire on narrow body 911s" and would give an extra 1"clearance.

Sorry for the mixed units.

Anyone know the offset of their 7" wheels?

just been out and measured the clearance to the Boxster calipers, barely 1/2".

Need to think about next move. Maybe rolling the lip of the front wings is the way to go.

Spoke to Tuthills today who confirmed that rolling the wheel arch may be the way to go. But actually I am going to change back to 6" and 7" wheels which will do the trick (even with the same size tyres). There is no need for 7s and 8s.

I'll have some 8x15 Fuchs for sale in a short while!
