Just got back from a week competing on the 20th Classic Marathon.
We started in Ypres on Friday 14th June and finished a week later in Cortina. The event was a superb mix of road regularity and private / closed road tests / hill climbs. Great locations and needless to say running through the Alpes and the Dolomites there were passes and hairpins a plenty.
The event and route is pretty well described at:
http://www.classicrally.org.uk/classicm ... index.html
There was a good variety of cars amongst the 84 entries with the Porsche contingent made up of:
3 * 2.0 SWB 911, our 2.2T, a 914/6, a 74 2.7 carrera and a 79 3.0
Anyway, here's a selection of photos to give you a feel of things

Great pictures Andrew.
Is this the one that was the Pirelli Classic Marathon? If so, I believe my parent's neighbour, Henry Pearman (sp?) of Eagle E-Types did rather well in the first one back in 1988.
I seem to recall that it got a whole hours coverage on the 'proper' telly at the time.
Anyway, looks like you had a wonderful time.
Hope you're both well?

Yes, that's the one Barry; Pirelli did sponsor the first ones.
I remember watching the film, 'The Great Chase' I think it was called, of the first event and thinking what fun it looked. The fact that this was the 20th anniversary event and was returning to Cortina really attracted me to it.
We're both very well thanks. Whilst we needed another holiday to get over the rally we did stay down in the Dolomites for an extra four days after the finish to do a bit of hiking and climbing and then took a few days pottering home.

It's a super setting isn't it. At the risk of boring you sensless now it was taken outside the Rifugio Auronso near the Tre Cime di Lavarado at the end of a toll road that was closed temporarily for us to run a hill climb up to the summit. There is certainly a top of the world feeling about the place.
We actually came back after the rally to have a look around.
Here's the Tre Cime:
