914 problems

Hi
I need some help with a problem, the car has a noise from the pasanger side rear when you go round a right hand bend. I have had the rear wheel of the ground and there is no play in the wheel bearing so has anybody got any ideas what the problem may be?

Could be a driveshaft, problem is you will only hear it with the wheel under a load. If you spin the wheel, do you get a clicking sound???

no, the only thing i have noticed is that there is a bit of drag on the wheels that may be the handbrake even though the handbrake isent working at its best.

Is it a clonking sound that is more road induced? If so it could be the rear trailing arm mounts: if you think it could be this, jack the car back up, and firmly push and pull the wheel, and try to rotate it towards and away from you when holding it at 12 and 6 O'clock (if that makes sense).

The swing arm runs (IIRC) on a long bolt or shaft that locates through the bodywork. This can seize leading to it eating it's way through the adjacent tinwork, in turn giving slop, in turn leading to nasty knocking

I had a quick look tonight when i got in from work and every thing looked fine underneath, the side in question looks about an inch lower over the rear arch, it may have been like this all the time and just me finding falts.
Had a garage look over the car last week for the insurance agread value and he said the car was very good underneath and had know known probs, which from a guy who has restored one was a good sign the only rot been on the top front.
Love the car and we get it out as soon as the sun comes out ( had it 4 weeks and have done more miles than its done over the last five years) so trying to solve probs as they come up.
