Belfast DDK Newbie

Post by francismurphy »

Hi All,
Lurked around the edges of DDK for a long time but only now have I got around to posting.
I'm the proud owner of a fairly ratty 1972/3 911 2.4T Targa taht is in the process of becoming less ratty.
This post is really a plea for help.........are there any DDKers in striking distance of Belfast who have experience of Porsche specialists locally. I am particularly keen to find a recommended engine rebuilder for my 2.4T. which managed to sit in a field for 4 years and get it's engine rather full of water!!!!
Failing that, anyone got an engine that they don't need anymore?
Any help or leads would be very much appreciated as I hope to get the Targa redone from the ground up before the end of the summer.
Thanks,
Francis

engine rebuild

Post by davidppp »

hello there.

I can help, I hope!

I have an excellent 2.4T with many new parts ready to build up..which I can build for you, on an exchange basis.

I am afraid that engines full of water do not get fixed properly cheaply!..this is quite common in my fairly extensive experinece of ratty 911 motors!

What sort of budget do you have?

Its better to get it done right even if it costs more..there is soo much to do wrongly with 911 engines..and an unreliable car is a curse..

Kind regards
david

Hi Francis

Welcome to DDK. I suppose I will be the nearest DDKer to you unless there are other NI people on here. The nearest early 911 guru for you will be Mike Bainbridge near Kendal. Good guy. Well worth talking to. He is on here as well. I don't think he will have a bolt in engine but you never know.

Regards
Mike

Alway nice to get welcome another Northern to DDK. Hope you have fun getting your engine sorted. I would be with 210bhp in that Mike Bainbridge is a good place to start and is near the ferry at least :-)

Hi Cortina

You guys must be close, I am less than 60 miles from Belfast but only 28 miles of it is on tarmac.

Yip ... about 18 miles at the last count !
Look on the bright side ... I did get my first new inner sill welded on today , which makes a change from cutting out rusty bits
