After the running in it's a check of valve clearances oil and fuel filters and then onto the power runs. The first one was to 7300
just to bed it down and check the injection pump at high rpm, then onto the real test for max power.

The point of the engine was to emulate the team cars in the 73 Targa Florio, running 3.0 litre's built with a 10.3 compression,
exactly as we have done. The quoted factory figures showed 315 hp at 8000 rpm, so anywhere near that was the aim.........
everything crossed this time.......

http://youtu.be/nBeEvv_PYL0?t=23s

You can see from the film it actually reads 320hp momentarily but the dyno averages it out to it's true calibrated figure of 317hp.

Very impressive Mike ! (& Neil)

What is the 'safe' upper rev limit on your engine ?

Really thrilled with the results, a vindication of the all the hard work, time and money that's gone into the build and a testament
to Neil Bainbridge's engineering skill and experience, well that's what he said anyway!

Please with the torque figures as well, 224 ft lbs @ 284hp is slightly down on the factory but we always thought that might be
the case with the headers we've used, but there's still a little tweeking we can do.

Hi Andy, 8200rpm is the red line, unless you're the man with the db meter of course!

As you can see from the graph though, the max power figure of 317.6hp is at 7950rpm
and then it tails off, so if we end up fitting rev limiters will set them at 8000rpm.
cheers, Mike.

hope so John, even at a very 'modest' 6200rpm it's producing 250hp so should be ok for a gentle cruise as well.........

thanks Jason/Dougie, us RSR guys need to stick together!

Absolutely brilliant Mike, you must be very pleased. I wish I had been there for the dyno run but I've now watched it about 20 times on Youtube. Neil is a fabulous engineer and his dyno system something to behold, it looks like the command and control centre of the Starship Enterprise.

Dare I ask when the motor is going into the car?

thanks Chris, less of the old if you don't mind!

Just think, move the decimal point 2 places and you have the same power/rpm ratio for the tractor......3hp @80rpm
