Mike, the new stripes look spot-on - exactly as in the original photo.

Will you be airbushing in the original stone-chips or will these be done by hand?

Fabulous work by the custom painters: not easy to do at all.

Nice bonnet hole as well: was it formed with tooling or by hand?

Hi Barry hope you are well. They got in a hole cutter to size but having been there today to finalise the aluminum flap,
could do with your swaging skills as it sits across the bonnet swage line!
cheers, Mike.

Hi Nikolay, sorry for the delay to answer your question, only just sobered up :drunken:
The measurement across the tail in a straight line is 850mm, following the curve of the lid it's 858mm

Thanks Brendan and Jason for the comments! Merry Christmas to you both :santa:
cheers, Mike.

As we were getting closer to finishing the engine Neil had started thinking about where to test the motor on an engine dyno,
but in the end he decided to build his own, as you do! So over Christmas and the New Year he set about building a dyno cell
in his workshop, I've been helping out with that and work on the car has taken a back seat for the time being.

Here's Neil and mate Phill in the soundproof cell as it is so far, it will be all automatically air temperature and pressure controlled,
that's the intake unit above their heads with actuators to open the vanes as nessasary. Then a view as seen from what will be the
main control room where you sit. The window will be quadruple glazed, not just for the sound but to stop flying conrods!

The rig for testing oil surge and scavenge in the sump is an incredible bit of kit, but have to say I would have thought the RUF dyno would be a bit more high tech.....
cheers, Mike.

It was all just tubes and pipes to me Mike! There were a hell of a lot of gadgets and dials and knobs in the room outside for controlling everything and the temps the room gets up to inside is off the scale!

TBH though a lot of RUFs workshops are very traditional and old school. it was nice to see 3 guys restoring some stupidly early 911 - number 2 i think and had just been sanding it by hand for hundreds and hundreds of hours.

bit late to the party, but the car looks fantastic! also dyno's are more about the guys working them than the dyno itself; i remember back when i worked for TWR race engines we had what looked like a 1970's dyno with allsorts of big bakelite knobs and switches on it... ..still came out 10-15bhp up on the rest of the field in our first season of BTTC with great reliability.. shame we had to fit it into a garden shed
