Re: 69 2.0L engine very slow turning over.
Did the engine work increase the compression? And did you do anything which might cause valves and pistons to meet? I'd do a compression test - make sure it's not too high. Are you sure the engine's well-oiled? Also, is it sucking and blowing in the right direction on all cylinders? It's possible en...

Re: Smoke coming from engine fan
. It's not unknown to find that small creatures have made their 'home' under the grp engine shroud if the car has lain dormant for any length of time (esp in the US). It would be a good idea to carry a 'fire stick' or other extinguisher if you haven't already got one in the car ... . thanks for the...

Re: Are 1970 seatbelt captive nuts useless?
In case this is of use to anyone, the captive nuts just to the rear of the b-pillar weren't as shallow as I first thought. Upon attempting to drill through the centre of nut, into what I believed to be the captive cage, I found the drill went an extraordinary depth and then the penny dropped - they ...

Smoke coming from engine fan
So I took the 911T for its first good run today (MOT test) and it was quite smokey with fumes in the car (even with the heater hoses disconnected from the engine). Upon parking up with the engine good and hot, having run for a good 20 minutes, with the engine stopped, there was a gentle cloud of smo...

Re: Are 1970 seatbelt captive nuts useless?
This is the bracket I refered to in another of your questions regarding seat belt anchors. This sits under the seat runners. th.jpeg-4.jpg Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk I don't think I have that. It looks like that part might be inserted when the seat is bolted in, to one of the following tw...

Any demand for grey seatbelt flex & old fittings?
I bought an old jack off eBay last week and this old guy was clearing out some classic car memorabilia so I had a look through it. One of the things he had was a box of a whole load of ROMAC seatbelts, boxed, never fitted, apparently not sun damaged at all - perfect webbing and fittings. It crossed ...

Re: How are 1970 trims removed without destruction?
Thanks for all your help. A bit of heat enabled the hardened rubber to be extracted without damaging the chrome, and sure enough more screws were revealed.

Are 1970 seatbelt captive nuts useless?
Despite having no inertia reels, my 1970 911T has drill holes behind the trim just to the rear of the B post, leading to captive nuts at industry standard 7/16 UNF, which have never been used. The captive nuts are visible from the rear wheel arch. However, the bolts I have (and presumably all such b...

Re: How are 1970 trims removed without destruction?
You need to prise the rubber out to gain access to the fixings. If the rubber has perished you will probably end up damaging it when you remove it. The "rubber" is like black oak (and about a foot shorter than it started out!) I could cut the rubber I guess. Is it possible to get new Rubb...

How are 1970 trims removed without destruction?
Talking about this side trim here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/yP4UenBWWYKRQ3167 There's a screw at one end which allows me to free one end and then lever it, but it's going to break rather than come off. That screw is only accessible because the black granite-like material which runs along the middle...

Re: 3.2 Carrera UK emissions fail
Change in engine note. Spray carb cleaner around each intake joint, if the idle speeds rises/smooths out for a few moments then you have a leak. I have a leak. The fluctuating became much more accentuated and then stalled. Also the spray looks like it's getting sucked in and out. I posted elsewhere...

Indicator stalks - sensitive to positioning?
Continuing to get my 1970 911T ready for its first MOT; the indicator stalks only turn the indicators on when in exactly the right position. It's easy to push them past the spot where the indicators are on. Is this a standard feature and/or should I make some change to make them turn on reliably in ...

Re: Does the left 3.2 Carrera intake manifold remove quickly
Everything's recently done. Just looks like one came loose and blew its gasket so I was just going to check the torque on the other side. Apparently they often end up looser than spec one way or another.Nige wrote:Do both sides, no point just doing one side.
