Re: '74 911/83 2.7 LHD

I think that Jason is spinning the market again ...

Watch what he says and assume the opposite ?

And numbers apart, a Targa isn't the place for a racing engine --- as the market judged for itself at the time.

But a great start for a retro RS when married to a good long bonnet !!

Re: RHD 2.4 E

And they keep selling the cars that seem to be expensive.

Maybe they are not really expensive for those who can see the value ?

More interesting, looking back at some of the fab cars they have had, they are the cars that I would now want to buy and today they look very inexpensive ...

Re: limited slip diff

Hi, my understanding is that the part is suitable for the 1969-73 range of late-901, 911 and early 915 boxes. I'll double-check that. It is a regular limited slip diff from a well-regarded manufacturer, but it's not original equipment - I would guess that a car fitted with a limited slip in period ...

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD

would anyone hazard a guess what it would be worth if fitted with a (non matching numbers) S spec engine? OK, I'll have a go: A top flight RHD 2.4S coupe, matching numbers = £90k+? A quality restored RHD 2.4S coupe, non-matching numbers = £70k? A good condition RHD 2.4S coupe, non-matching numbers ...

Re: limited slip diff

I believe that the '72/'73 911S would have an early 915 gearbox, but can you offer the gearbox number range for which tit would be suitable ?

Is this the item that would be the option code 220 ?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: '73 911S Cold start mechanism

Thanks for the feedback --- I think there is also the issue that they may not do the job intended where a stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted -- But, for correctness, should the mechanism still be there ? Again, it is currently available --- it may not always be --- Or is this a vanity qu...

'73 911S Cold start mechanism

Many cars seem no longer to have this system.

It is available both secondhand and new from Porsche Classic.

Who would fit it ?

Who would not ?

And why ?

Thanks :)

Re: '73 2.4S (ish) as M471 RHD

Were '73 911S engines built with 7R cases ? I thought they were 3R and 5R or later, 5R/5R cases ? Just checked --- according the Peter Morgan the series 4 7R cases came with the 2.7RS engine in 1973. This case is machined differently to take the larger barrels ??? Though 5R cases can be machined out...

Re: 993RS

Is the build label still under the bonnet ? Or in the Service Book ?

If so, does it show C16 or C18 in the first option code position ?

C16 is K and I believe that C18 is Hong Kong.

Also, who was the supplying dealer ?
