A used solus would be a good start, mine is never far from me, has been used thousands of times.

Code readers are only that, not a direct instruction to change a sensor, so caution and methodical thinking is required

Installing lambda sensor from scratch

I try to fit them so the wire end is higher than the sensor end to keep condensation out. Having the sensor further into the flow can cause over heating of the sensor in my experience.

I used them a lot a good few years ago

It's draw will be limited by what can be supplied, or the weakest link, bad earth etc!

Was the engine running at over 2000 rpm when you took the reading?

These are only rated at 20amps and most heated screens will draw double that. You could use it to drive a bigger relay for current control
