Many thanks Paul - as always, right on the button.
Not too many plays on the great man's name, but I do trust it's not Ferry cold in Sussex and you can still get out and about this Christmas.
Kind regards,
Bob

About 21 years old - into motor cycle trials and the nearest thing to a car we could afford (married with our first and the second one due shortly) was a copy of Motor Sport every month. Jenks in his regular column, writing - and I have to paraphrase - about cruising the autobahn at 100mph (mph stic...

As always, left things until the last minute then needed the car ready to drive up to Bob Watson's power (or lack of it) test session. The combined LED bulbs are much deeper than the space available so this was my simple solution which may be helpful to anyone contemplating the change. 1) Removed th...

My car enjoyed the testing so much it didn't want to come home. Embarrassing or what  ? Many thanks to Bob and his very enthusiastic young staff for an interesting day which left me with more questions than answers...... Now I just have to discover where all those missing horses have gone and ...

Thanks Andrew, Bulbs and holders arrived in the post about ten minutes ago! I have opted to use 382 fitting, red combined rear and stop light bulbs. The only question is if I can fit the holders into the space available. As for actual brightness, better to have slightly less (if that is how they tur...

Hi Sladey, I answered this just now and it disappeared..... I am going ahead with the conversion so will let you know how I get on. It doesn't look like too much of a problem - the only issue being the combined depth of the LED bulb plus bulb holder. Worth it anyway if it reduces the likelihood of s...

'R' style Hella rear lights
I have the early style Hella rear lights fitted and am plagued with the festoon bulbs getting bounced out of their spring holders (the suspension doesn't help but I don't want to change that!). So, I am wondering if I can replace the rear light and stop light festoon bulbs with either conventional b...

Light beam selector switch.
My Hi/Dipped selector switch (probably from 72 - 7??? - not sure if the model changed very often) now has to be held in the dipped position otherwise it reverts to Hi.
Is this a repairable fault or does it call for replacement please?
Thanks....
Bob

...and as I recall the pain threshold is somewhere between 120-140dB (those lectures were longer ago than I care to admit!) So is this a case of a German bloke standing by the track and if his ears start bleeding the car is too noisy? Some of the development (Lotus) Elises were quite painful to dri...

Noise level. What noise level?
Doing a trackday at the 'Ring later this month and just received the regulations.
Noise level is set at 132 db - and that's on drive by!
I really think I am going to enjoy this....
