Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Last minute change of plan – I went to the Basingstoke Festival of Transport instead of Beaulieu. A few aircooled Veedubs & vans, but no aircooled Porsches. Well, except for mine in the ‘visitors’ carpark. What did I learn on this little jaunt 1 – the heaters are staying partially on. Simple on ...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Sometime forgiveness is easier than permission (providing you’re still alive to seek forgiveness).

That said, when I bought my Lotus, SWMBO didn’t speak to me for about 6 months

Re: Fairmile 2023

My current plans are to get there about 6-ish (but life sometimes has other plans, like the roadworks on the A3 junction before)

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Definitely need another project, even though sailing is about to get somewhat mental, and coupled with CLM and a family holiday, I won’t have more than a couple of days free at any one time until September now. As there’s negligible chance of me finding another 911 for stupidly cheap (unless someone...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Driving the car as much as I can now, but that still isn’t very often. Most journeys are just a couple of miles, so I'm considering pottering down to the Beaulieu Spring Autojumble in the morning, just because it’s there. However, being in the middle of a whole fortnight without sailing and no proje...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

I wanted to do something like that but the distructions give a clearance from any electrical wires in the screens. Where I placed it was the only place I could comply with their recommendation.

Hi Mike Aerial is this one https://incartec.co.uk/product/DAB-external-glass-mount-whip-antenna--15db https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230503/8f7e765d5b0d007987b510e79a98f514.jpg Works a lot better than the original wire aerial that came with the radio. I think that my fire extinguisher was this o...

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread

Sorry Graham, missed that. That's not a spring, that's my Allen key as I was removing bits. Having been toooo slow and missed the opportunity to buy a fire extinguisher bracket (was typing my response as it was snapped up before my very eyes), I thought that it was maybe time to do something about t...

Me too, but just think of all the fun (buying tools and messing about in the garage) that Sladey’s had doing it the hard way
