A quick way to prove if it is fuel related and not ignition is to spray some easy start into the air box, it should cough or splutter if the ignition system is good. I'm not so sure easy start is the way to go because I've a hunch it will spontaneously combust under compression, thereby not ruling ...

Not being one to give up easily, I returned to the last stubborn cylinder after 24 hours soaking in transmission fluid and carb cleaner. In a rare moment of lucidity I realised the seized piston couldn't be restricting the crank's movement, because I could tap the cylinder up and down on the piston ...

You say you have fuel pressure and no smell of fuel, so the injectors aren't receiving a signal. I'd focus on confirming that fact.

First off, check all connectors are well-seated and retry starting. Then check all fuses, especially fuel system and ecu. Then fill a petrol can and empty the contents into the tank, and retry. Do you realise that if fitting 90mm pistons you'll end up with quite a low compression ratio ? ok I did some calcs and notionally the 2.7 pistons must be 1.908mm shorter than the 2.2 pistons. Fair enough, that’s broken! Slipped timing chain maybe? Valves may look ok but probably warrant replacement. I'm trying to think if the two broken pistons were on the tight side. There’s no (visible) scoring on the bores from that damage? Difficult to see from the photos, but is the top of the piston clean or is it some deposit build ups that then look like damage? So that just leaves one cylinder on the engine, on the other side. Gently turning the crankshaft I was able to confirm it's this cylinder restricting the movement of the crank.
