Re: non Porsche vid of the day!

Great video, love that. Thanks for posting Neil. So Von Trip founded the kart track that Schumacher grew up at. Wow.

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day

An interesting car for sale in the USA. 1969 AM DB6 for less than £99k. Not my thing but I’ve seen what these fetch at auction in top condition. Unusually this is in America but is RHD and still retains its UK registration number. Laid up for 30 years following a front end ‘tup’. Matching numbers, ...

Well done Rob 😁. You got that sorted quickly. It's a nice feeling when you've all your stuff where you can find it.

I'd go back and make a noise about that. They'll deny of course but if nothing else might deter them from joy riding again.

ODB2 Scanner

Can anyone recommend a good ODB2 scanner? My wife's Honda CR-V is intermittently throwing multiple dash warnings (ABS, Stability, ..) and refusing to start. It doesn't even crank so clearly thinks there's a safety issue. Go back to it 15mins later and it starts and runs fine. It's not the battery, t...

Re: De tomaso Pantera

See the YouTube video below. Might be worth contacting the channel owner and ask for contact details of the bloke that owns the car. Reckon he'd know more than most.

Re: Happy days, 911S is alive!

Worth also checking/replacing the plastic cup that receives the ball at the bottom of the gear stick.
With all linkage bushes in good shape and setup as per the manual, the 901 shifts absolutely fine.

Congratulations on bringing your car to life  .

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Hi all, so having searched the site a fair bit I can see that many of you know the car I just bought. A white 1974 Carrera 2.7 Mfi, I believe it was owned by a member that sadly passed away. Nigel Sellicks (NigelC210). I never met Nigel but can see he clearly loved the car and some of you spent muc...

Re: O/T Road bike recommendations

I agree with James. Carbon bikes tend deteriorate quickly and I'd think carefully about buying a used one. I've also heard of nasty accidents due to sudden fractures on older carbon bikes. Focus on getting a good fit and a decent group set. Specialized is another reasonable brand.

Cheers

Re: Does anyone have a working 6v coil nearish Northamptonshire?

Hi Neil, Sorry, I don't think I have a spare coil, but remember to subtract the multimeter lead resistance (probes shorted) when measuring your coil. This is always important when trying to measure low resistance values. Note, even if resistance now seems ok, there could still be an insulation fault...

Re: Quieter Weber Carbs

Think the noise must be generated by turbulent air flow at the carb intakes. Turbulence also increases pressure drop which you don't want. Anything you can do to slow down the air i.e. increase diameter, reduce bends and sharp edges should lead to more laminar flow and less noise. Using radiused vel...

Re: Battery puzzle, is there a problem here?

Yes, just buy a new one. Over time, and particularly with lack of use, the lead plates become 'sulphated'. I've tried to resurrect batteries in the past but never with any success. A simplistic diy method to check battery internal resistance is to see how much the voltage (measured directly across t...

Re: Battery puzzle, is there a problem here?

Reckon so. Battery has six 2.2V cells in series. If any one goes high resistance you'll struggle to push any charge current through it. It will also struggle to deliver current when starting. I'm guessing the other parallel battery is doing all the heavy lifting.
