Re: Tyres

Tyres changed this morning and first impressions with the new rubber is GREAT !!

Seems to have made a world of difference to the car's response.

Re: Tyres

Thanks Chaps. I am not too worried about wet weather driving as I don't use the car all that much, and if I am in the rain, its because I got caught out.

Should have them on the car early next week.

Re: Tyres

I just ordered 4x195/65 x 15 W Dunlop Blue Response. Have a 4.5 rating across the board, and at GBP 70/tyre installed, its OK. Maybe not as good as a CN36 or a P6000 but I bought 4 for less than the price of 1.

Tyres

Question, the tyres on my car were made in 2011, and have less than 500 miles on them. Perhaps I am too accustomed to power steered cars and modern suspension and low profile tyres. Seems the front end of my car is a bit less than stable, and wondered if the tyres have taken a few sets over various ...

Re: Leaky SSIs

The oil tubes have all been replaced. The leak is between the head and the block. So its an engine out, strip and reassemble.

Re: Leaky SSIs

I realize the engine will take a rebuild to stop the oil leaking, but was hoping a cheap alternative may have been available.

Leaky SSIs

Hi chaps, Hope things are well. Question for you all: The cam housing is leaking oil where it meets the engine casing, and the oil is dripping on my SSIs. Someway, the oil is getting into the heat exchanger. Does anyone have any experience of welding leaky SSIs? Funny bit, the right hand exchange wa...

Re: Brushed Alu rocker panel coverings

The chap who did the paint job (won't call it restoration) used wax oil in the inner sills, so perhaps even drilling holes in the rocker panels will be OK given the wax oil?

Re: Brushed Alu rocker panel coverings

Thanks Gary, makes sense. The alu panels I have are the originals, so not quite so nice as new ones. I guess the new adhesives are very good and should hold up. I'd hate to be driving down the road and have something come loose.

Brushed Alu rocker panel coverings

I had my rocker panels replaced a good 15 years ago, and the chap who did the job didn't re-install the rocker panel covers (brushed aluminium). He didn't want to make holes in the new panels. Fair enough. I'd like to have them re-installed now. From a Stoddard picture, it appears the out rocker pan...
