Re: Restoration of a 356SC Best battery to buy

I've tried various options over the years, in the end I think the standard hard case version from: https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/classic-car/511/ this is the best option as it is the same battery made by the same people that Porsche will sell you for almost twice the price. The key thing is,...

Re: RHD 356s - how many?

Thanks Roy, I think your guesses are likely to be pretty close. I wonder if Porsche have the production stats for left and right hand drive numbers? I know they knew which hand each car was so presumably the data is there. Thanks again

RHD 356s - how many?

Does anyone know how many right hand drive 356's have survived in the uk? I know there must also be RHD examples in other countries like Australia but was curious. I've never seen any data published on the LHD / RHD split, including years and years of reading porsche post.

Re: 356 LED bulbs

I bought a pair of the LED headlight bulbs from http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com, they look like a really well made product but at £175 for a pair they should be. Unfortunately I ended up sending them back as the are supplied with an adaptor ring which supposedly 'enables a P43t LED bulb to...

Re: Rear defrost / demist tube pictures

I've got an early UK supplied RHD c (build was started November '63) and mine has the 2 separate tubes going up to the plastic deflector covers in the bottom corners of the window. I'm 99.9% certain this is how all c's came as there was only one version of the C and one version of the SC offered wit...

Re: Restoration of a 356SC

6 volt is fine, as long as the dynamo, regulator and battery are in good shape, The previous post mentioned Rob and Broadway Electrical in Grays Essex, they are spot on (and also where most of the UK 356 parts people send their's to be done to sell on to you) The 12 volt dynamo has a different armat...
