Re: Turbo trackrods onto early rack setup Questions

I plan to refresh my steering this coming winter. From this thread do I conclude that turbo tie rods are not long enough for a 912? Regardless, out of interest, what are the advantages of turbo tie rods? Do they provide a benefit on a 912? Thanks.

Re: 912 Display & Meet Up - Stanford Hall - Sunday 3rd May 2

Any indication whether this is still on? I know things are rapidly changing with the current Covid 19 issue. I had planned to go to Bespoked (the UK hand built bicycle show) on that day, but it has been postponed.

Re: OT. BMW x3 wise words sought.

I bought an 06 plate x3 for my wife. Worst car I have ever bought. 2l diesel is under powered, ride is poor. Got through turbo, dual-mass flywheel, front callipers, rear diff problems, porous alloys. Loathed it. Perhaps I just bought a bad example........

I went today for the first time. Really enjoyed it - great mix of cars, both old and new, in in interesting setting. Will certainly be going again.

Re: New 912 Owner - Previously a 993 Owner

Out of interest, what is it about the older car that you prefer over and above the newer car? I’ve a ‘66 912 and sometimes think I might swap it for something more modern, like a 964 or 996. What ultimately puts me off the swap is that the 912 is a simple car, which is good, and I don’t actually dri...

Petrol Tank Replacement

I’m about to swap out my old petrol tank for a new one. Is there anything I need to be especially aware of during the swap, any do’s and dont’s? Thanks

Those Alvi look very classy. Didn’t make it to the Super Scramble, took my son fishing instead. Must try and get to the next Scramble.

Re: Fuel tank

You are right, there is no real problem with sealing an existing tank. However, if I install a new tank it should see the car through at least the remainder of my ownership and I shouldn’t need to touch it ever again. It feels like the right course of action.

Re: Fuel tank

I hadn’t considered having my existing tank repaired. At about £230 for a new tank plus £60 ish for a fitting kit I had thought it as well to buy new. I shall investigate a repair - it isn’t really something I’d want to try myself.
