New 930 3.0 Turbo & 3.0 Carerra tyres 205 & 225/50YR15 P7 N4

Hi Good old Pirelli have come up trumps again. I have just received my first delivery of Pirelli's first foray into re making the P7 tyres of the mid '70s, with 2 new tyres that are homologated by Porsche with the N4 designation 205/50YR15 Cinturato P7 N4 http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/205-50y...

Re: Has DDK been hacked by Pirelli ?

Hi Team Thank you for the kind words some of you, but i really don't understand the resentment. Fair enough i have posted on a few different topics, but my intention is to let everyone that might be interested know. And i have paid and sponsored the forum to do so which must be good for the forum. S...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

Hi Darren Assuming you mean the Avon CR6ZZ , then no doubt. they are great. And up until Pirelli made the Pirelli Cinturato N4 CN36 these were the tyres we were recommending to people. The CR6ZZ is still the best tyres for track use. However the new production of N4 tyres from Pirelli are bit better...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

........but don't say that how Porsche did it 50 years ago is the only way. .....not saying that at all.......just saying that I want my 72 to drive as well as it could have done in 1972, slip sliding all the way. Not any better. If I wanted to go really fast I'd buy a Golf R. I think the important...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

Yes you can change your car to take modern tyres, as i said before "Granted if you are racing or you have modified you car (probably by dialing in some adverse camber) then more modern tyres might suit." But i would suggest that some adjustments away from standard often lead to others. but...

Re: Tyre choice

Hi I would suggest taking Porsche s recommendation that they have recently done. Porsche are homologating the Pirelli Cinturato range of tyres for their classic cars. http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/pirelli-cinturato-cn36 The Avon CR6ZZ are great tyres http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/avon-...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

I'll try to explain why a period tyre is more suited to an earlier car than a more modern one, but please do remember i am just a tyre dealer with a grade 4 CSE in English not an eloquent engineer turned journalist. More modern tyres have a relatively wider foot print compared to the width of the ty...

New Porsche homologated Pirelli tyre 165VR15 CN36 N4

Hi Team Arguably the best tyre for a http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/porsche-356 would be the new tyre that Pirelli have made, porsche have tested, and Porsche have given their N4 seal of approval. so thi sis the only Porsche homologated 165R15 tyre. and it is the only V rated tyre in the size ...

Re: Any day now i should have the Pirelli 215/60WR15 CN36 N4

The first few batches have been and gone straight out the door. However i am expecting another delivery of fresh N4 tyres any day now. Just to re cap 185/70WR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 N4 http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/185-70-wr-15-pirelli-cinturato-cn36-n4.html original equipment on the 911 fr...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

I would have liked to see a modern 195/65 in the group test as a reference point. It would have been worse on these cars. yes a 195/65R15 will suit a later car that is set up to suit this later development in tyre carcass construction, where as these earlier cars will suit and handle better with th...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

I might ask whether the Pirelli is worth twice the cost of the Vredstein? should you buy tyres just based on cost? Should you buy cars just based on cost? I might ask whether the early 911 is worth twice the cost of the VW Beatle? the other point is these tyres are just not expensive at all for a t...

Re: Interesting about the CN36

I think it is hot news. i have never seen such a test done on tyres for classic cars. i would suggest the investment in this tyre test was huge. i am surprised it is not reused in every Porsche magazine. Also it is excellent of Pirelli to invest in the tooling to re make tyres to such high specifica...
