Re: My '72 911T
That clearly sucked, as they say here in the US of A. When I was putting the engine back in my SC for the first time (acquired the car in pieces), the car was on a mid-rise lift and the engine and 915 assembly on a hydraulic lift table, which I’d just bought from the place where we go for inexpensiv...

Re: E Type 888330
Thanks for your update and sorry to hear about the sad stuff you’ve encountered … I can relate. I know there are many beautifully restored E-types out there, but the work you and Barry have done does rather set yours apart.
Kind regards,
John

Re: Under cover Resto
Great thread. I got the Brooklands 356 road test compendium when I was in college (mid 1980’s) and fell in love with the model(s) via the writings of Denis Jenkinson. Haven’t owned one yet, but have learned what complicated buggers the body shells are. Regarding your valve/rocker covers: safe to ass...

What a colour and like all your cars, done to the highest standards. I like the ride height.
In the photo above, that knobbly texture on/above the mounting bosses of the Bosch pump … do we think it was cast in that way to add strength?

Re: 1976 911S Patina Project - The Sunburnt lobster
I remember when this car was listed on Pelican. (Would be a $40-45K price tag in today’s loony market?) I think your EFI is likely from Bitz Racing, www.bitzracing.com, not the prettiest* set-up ever but more to the point has an excellent reputation for operating well once mapped properly and lastin...

I believe that once you’ve refreshed the WUR, all will be right with the world.

Re: Wot, not another '79 Targa resto thread
Peter, There’s a lot of very good stuff on Pelican about CIS, much written by a guy called Tony who goes by boytsc911 or something like that, from the Philadelphia region; he also rebuilds the system components. He can be a bit tough on those who come with questions but have been too lazy to check t...

Re: Is it just me, or...
Keith, I agree entirely. The smugness exuded by many of those who put their names on such jobs further annoys me … as if they’re SO much cleverer than anyone who worked at Porsche AG. I don’t even like the word “build” anymore … often just an opportunity for some name-dropping and spend-boasting. We...

Re: 8000 rpm/300 bhp 3.2 rebuild
Hillclimber, This would certainly cause me to not do business with Clewett in the future. Totally shabby of him/them. It’s interesting, my own cars/projects (82 SC and 87 924S), neither of which are much modified, have largely introduced me to only great vendors. But a friend who operates at the sha...

Re: 1974 Carrera Coupe - RHD, UK car
Christmas Eve 2021, over the past three days I’ve re-read and pondered over this story. Tough to find the words to do it justice. Maybe “epic”, as in Homer, will suffice. It certainly makes me want to cuddle my SC.

Lovely work. Re: bending pipe, is filling them with sand then applying heat a valid approach? I ask because I’ve only read about doing that.
