Instability in crosswinds

Went for a blast around the moors of the Peak District yesterday and not for the first time was blown all over the road whenever exposed to strong crosswinds. Whilst sometimes this can be 'amusing' it calls for absolute focus of the mind and I really think I need to do something about it. My '72T ru...

Thanks all - I hear you loud and clear! The car is still on it's original suspension (it looks kind of odd with the wheels pushed to the front of the arches) and many original parts are present and correct, so undoing the arch conversion may not be beyond the bounds of possibility. If my colleague d...

Guys Fully appreciate the advice on returning it to SWB spec, but if my colleague wants to follow through the work that has already been done (the guy that currently owns it has been 'on with' the project for 20 years  ), regardless of potential value, is the conversion as straightforward as ...

Conversion to LWB

I viewed a RHD SWB '68 car last week that a colleague is looking at buying. It has had genuine Porsche Carrera rear arches grafted on to move the rear wheel apertures further back in the body. The whole body is in bare metal so it was easy to inspect the quality of the work and the job looks to have...

It's PCGB for me - expensive but very enjoyable last year. Promises to be even better this time around with a new site and all.

In '06 I plan to go to the classic - no doubt PCGB will probably have a tie up with the organisers to get some 'perks' for members...

Helen Been to an autojumble today where they are £20 in all for a set, made in front of your eyes. If you prefer a square rear plate, they're £24 all in. The quality was excellent. The organiser is Penny Farthing Fairs and I understand there is going to be a big one at Newark in a couple of weeks - ...

Hi Barry - Happy New Year! If I hadn't been looking over my tech's shoulder whilst he set the timing on both occasions, I wouldn't have believed the difference myself (but nor do I understand how the rev counter can influence the CD unit). I watched him set the idle to the correct speed first (c. 90...

James I have family friends in Bedale (hence an odd post once on PCGB...), but haven't called in for a while. They're good friends and it's a great part of the world with some excellent roads so perhaps I should make more of an effort. I've seen the PCGB weekend runs, but they never seem to fall in ...

Barry My tacho is making its way to join your CD unit, so maybe Tim could give it a try before pulling it apart to see if he get's the same changes in timing with it in his car? There may still be something wrong with my CD unit or 'coil' as the engine gets wheezy at the very top end rather than hit...

Update following return from the garage today. With the rev counter disconnected, the timing had altered by a full six degrees from where it was set only a week or so ago  . I have no idea how the rev counter could cause this, but I'm sure there will be one or two on the forum who will be nod...

Good old Barry :P - he pm'd me earlier this week to suggest a couple more things to check out and I am delighted to report that with the tacho feed disconnected from the points I have a very 'growly' 2.4T! I can't believe that it only has 140BHP as it pulls very hard right through the revs, only get...
