Re: Rear lenses required
If you are looking for Euro units, the hella ones are much better quality (as I have found to my own cost).

Re: WANTED :- 914 windscreen
If no joy, I would order one from the factory. They still stock them in Stuttgart, and factory ones fit a lot better. Mine delivered to local OPC within a week was £240.

Re: Restoring my first 914
I just rewired mine to be indicator repeaters...rather than risk rust creeping back through in the future. Admire your efforts though.

That interior looks very tidy - particularly the dash.
I'd add replacement of all the fuel lines to your list as a priority too unless there is evidence of recent replacement.

Re: Front Axle / steering rack / support bar
I would agree with Stuart that fitting the Lemforder (factory) Turbo tie-rod kit is the best option. Not only do you not have to buy the gaiters etc separately, but the quality is much better. IMHO some of the URO stuff is a bit below par (look what happened with our wiper stalks etc), and if you ar...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Took a run out in the 914 down to Burton Upon Trent today with some Porsche friends. Enjoyed lunch and a tour round the National Brewery Centre. Worth a visit. Weather was decent enough to have the top off enjoying the sunshine over snake pass on the way back. Rumour has it Spring has arrived. http:...

Owned by one of my best mates, Gary Ince (N. Wales). 911SC backdate with some decent bits on it.911hillclimber wrote:

Re: Restoring my first 914
You're not having much luck Darren. It will come good, I am sure. I went through a period on mine where nothing went right and I didn't look at it, never mind speak to it ;-) for at least a week.... Checked the garage earlier today, and wish I could bring some cheer...however, the spare air deflecto...

Re: Ethanol resistant fuel line.
I used AFS like Chris Matt. Efficient service. Not sure which model you have however if it is a 914, check the Bowlsby 914 site as there is an article that lists out the sizes and lengths needed ahead of purchase.

Re: Restoring my first 914
I will try and look out my spares box of 'stuff' that came in the boot of my 914 when bought for restoration. Could be wrong but think I may have a spare air deflector plate lying around. Will revert once I have checked.

Re: Insurance while restoring
I used Footman James, which were very reasonable. The 'Laid Up' policy I got was registered against the VIN. They did however mandate that the car be registered within 6 months, or have the details updated at that interval if an extension was required.

Thanks for that last post... I had never joined the dots between the 914 Giugiaro concept and the Delorean. So obvious now you see them together.

Re: 928 specialists
Paul Anderson (928 Spares) and Chris Sanderson (Loe Bank Motors) are the two main specialists for 928s in the country. If it is an early car, Paul Anderson will have more to offer as he races early models (and prepares various other customer cars). Porsche Classic still offer a surprising number of ...

Re: Classic Car Show's Alex Riley & 914
See him regularly on the train from Euston heading north. Haven't played back the recording of this past week's Classic Car Show programme. Will be interesting to hear what he said about the 928.
