Re: Query about importing a car from the US
I have imported an old race car from the USA and to get the correct customs charges it is necessary the secure a Binding Tariff agreement with HMR&C which confirms that the car is of historic interest. There is plenty of detailed information on the HMR&C website. This has to be done before t...

Re: 3.2 engine: awkward throttle response from tick over
I guess you could put a meter on it and see if it switches cleanly with no "bounce"

Re: 3.2 engine: awkward throttle response from tick over
Sounds like it could be an issue with the switch itself not operating cleanly. Worth seeing if you can borrow one for a swap over.

Re: SSI Heat exchanger part for 2.2s
I have SSI's on my 2.2s but they were fitted a few years ago by Canford Classics. As you probably know Dansk bought SSI a while ago together with all the tooling and from what I understand have continued to manufacture all the versions previously available. I suggest that you give Alan Drayson a cal...

Re: Oil pressure switch for 2.2s
Hi there
Yes you do need a sender unit. Just make sure it matches your gauge, i.e. a 5 bar sender for a 5 bar scale. Mine didn't and nearly gave me heart failure when it showed half the expected reading!

Re: Your Porsche pic of the day......
Looks like a 956 engine in build. The lumpy casting holds the oil filter which is made up of a stacked series of mesh discs which can be cleaned and re-used.

Re: How many years for this to happen ?
In 1979 I bought a 1969 911s. It turned out that it was a rotten as an old pear to the extent that it basically needed scrapping. Today it would be resuscitated but not then.

Re: Starter not disengaging
The solenoid is spring return. I once had a starter behave in a similar manner when it came lose causing the pinion to mis-align and get jammed in the engaged position together with the solenoid thus completing the circuit. Easy to check if not done so far. Otherwise I would pull the starter and go ...

Re: Starter not disengaging
It sounds like you have eliminated the electrical issues so that leaves the solenoid. Leaving it as is and assuming that if it does happen again you can clear it in the same way sounds to me like a good opportunity of getting stuck somewhere in the dark and rain. I would take it off and sort it out ...

Re: Starter not disengaging
There are 3 things I would look at which are 1) is the starter motor attached properly or is it lose, 2) is the ignition switch working correctly i.e. does the key return to the running position when released after starting and 3) is the solenoid on the starter sticking.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Re: left door top , trim under 1/4 windows, headlight switc
Hi there
I think I have the 2 trim strips for the rear windows. If you can let me have an email address I'll send over a couple of photos and you can see if it is what you need.
