Re: tunnel - what goes where?

Sorry I meant RHD - typing never a strong suite. Don't recall ever seeing rubber sleeves on the fuel lines, but they can do no harm - a word of caution though - if you need to re-tap the threads on the seat runners on the centre console do this before you install the fuel lines. See my IKEA car rest...

Re: tunnel - what goes where?

OK I'll have a go. 'Nearside box section' contains the fuel lines (one or two depending on where your fuel pump is - front or rear) 'Rear hanger' - one of the three cotton reels for the accelerator cable - your car must be LHD 'Offside tags' - brake pipe last two photo are for the other two cotton r...

Re: doing the tacho boogie

Nothing to add technically, but thanks to Joel for rounding out the thread. Not so much here, but on Pelican and 991S I have been frustrated in the past when after being thrilled at finding a thread that describes my very problem, to then be frustrated when the OP never posts the end of the story ab...

Re: Insurance while being restored

I have insured all my 'project cars' from the off - I used RH insurance (now ERS), and as said above just third part, fire and theft like a normal car. They use the VIN as identifier.
All mine were mostly on my premises, but they did cover while the shells were away being painted.

Re: So, did we all vote

Exceptional letter from the Prof - totally unrealistic in today's 'populist politics' world I'm afraid - but correct in its reasoning nonetheless. In stark contrast to the idiotic ramblings of his MP namesake. Would be great if they did act in that way - just to see Nigel F's reaction. P.S. a (gradu...

Re: So, did we all vote

It is just possible that Boris also twigged that the next PM is going to end up pi$$ing off a lot of Leave voters - immigration is going to continue at about the same level from the EU and from outside the EU (seems some can't work out these are different given some of the media stories about Asians...

Re: So, did we all vote

"Taking back control" has been heard from most Leave campaigners, along with 'unelected bureaucrats in Brussels' etc etc. Hmmmm.... I (did) vote principally at three distinct levels 1. Local Council elections - reasonably democratic, not necessarily hugely political, many options, focussed...

Re: So, did we all vote

By post. Got to be 'IN'. Please, please. My view is no one over 50 should be allowed to vote on this as it's all about the future. An elderly couple did the right thing in that they allowed their 16 year old grandsons to decide how they should vote. All the politicians I had the opportunity to meet ...

Re: How to remove cigarette lighter?

Neil, I think you have the answer in your opening sentence - without a long socket you can't get it off......
.... and given the length of the lighter unit I think it might have to be one of those old style cylinder sockets with holes for a bar that were used for spark plugs and the like.

Re: Best place to source parts for a full restoration

Joma parts in Belgium and Rose Passion in France have proved to be good sources of pretty much everything (a lot of it genuine Porsche) at reasonable prices, and they will entertain discounts if you commit to large purchases, or 'sole trader' type arrangements.
