So my new standard chain tensioner has arrived and I was wondering a couple of things. First there is a pin holding the plunger in place, I know that this has to be removed but how? I had the same problem a couple of months back. Took the alternator out (which is an easy job) has it checked and it was okay. Try http://www.mgm-spares.co.uk/vintage-plates/ they do both metal and self adhesive and are a lot cheaper than £100. Used them myself and they are great and no need to send a whole load of paperwork either V5 etc.
