Re: A car with an interesting past!

So what one has the original engine etc.? The dutch car if i'm reading this correctly.? The original engine was removed from DGU 914H at some point and replaced with a 2.7. Then some years later the 2.7 was removed and a 1972 914/6 2.0 engine fitted which was originally from a U.K. sold 1972 914/6....

Re: A car with an interesting past!

It was well known that there were two 914/6s with the same chassis number: 9140430059 for those who have been in the 914 scene back when David Fagan ran the 914 Register in the late 80s early 90s. David mentioned a few times in the PCGB Trading Post monthly magazine and the quarterly Porsche Post at...

Re: No SAE number on fuel hose

R6 is an old specification, nowadays I only fit R10 specification with a manufacture name on the fuel hose, which is 100% Ethanol proof on the inner and outer rubber. R9 is inner only 100% Ethanol proof and outer is a different rubber; some non-branded hose I found will crack on the outer in a hot e...

Re: Brake pads for standard set up.

Kevin someone recommended the yellow pads to me. Have you used them? No, and I have no plan to. I use my cars on the road and I don't drive foot to the floor then stand on the brakes to stop it all day long. I never found that the Green Stuff and the ATE TYP200 brake fluid that I use didn't stop th...

Re: Brake pads for standard set up.

I have been using EBC Green Stuff for over 20 years and they work well on the standard set up and using the 914 for driving on roads. The other advantage over standard and other performance brake pads is that the EBC Green Stuff brake dust is less harmful to wheel rims and the brakes pads do not con...

Re: Porsche 914 blower connector

You can download a PDF of the parts manual here - select 914 from the dropdown - worth saving a copy on your desktop https://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/classic/genuineparts/originalpartscatalogue/ The above is for EURO Spec Porsches, for U.S. spec Porsches go to Porsche USA as it will...

Re: All the coolest Porsches are mid engine and air-cooled!

I can't get the bracket to fit the blower I bought. It does go over the hole and the holes don't line up The bracket you bought is for the 70-72 booster blower which is different looking with two outlets. The booster blower you have is a 73 model year onwards which is correct for your 73 1.7. It mo...

How do you think it is held in?

What you can see is the Bytyl Sealant which is off a roll that is place round the windscreen surround to hold it in place.

Re: 914 screen trims

Been there in the distant past on a few occasions. Trim is still available new from Porsche and the only way to stop it happening again is to replace the one use black plastic clips that hold them in place, which often do not get replaced as they can only be fitted when the windscreen is removed. Ev...

Re: Door seal leak

Factory inner door seal profile is flat with two ridges, while many seals you can buy off the reel are round. Keith where you discribe where the water is collecting it is right below where the quarter light meets the targa top and the seal that goes across the windscreen frame, are you sure the wate...

Re: 914/6 Clutch, throttle and speedo cables

914-6 Clutch Cable Part No. 914 423 401 02, Gemo make a repro as the OM cable is very expensive and now part No. 914 423 401 08. You can tell the difference between the 4 and 6 clutch cable by looking at the part that goes in the tunnel; the 6 clutch cable does not have a sleeve over the cable. The ...

The 914-6 used a different clutch cable, it is an inch shorter and more heavy duty than the standard 914-4.

Re: SoCal 914 where are you

I worked on JYJ 131N a couple of time back in 2015 doing mechanical work to help to get the 914 back on the road for the elderly owner who lived in Ashley Green which is near Hemel Hempstead. Once the 914 had a MOT the owner was then going to sell the 914 on as his son had no interest in owning the ...
