the reason i ask is that i need to decide whether i put away my 356 owning ambitions for good and concentrate or more affordable fare.

Conversions aren't allowed in I'm afraid. So if the country of first registration isn't a RHD country it outs up red flags and a quick google of the VIN by the authorities means its a no go. Same for the engine. If it matches the number on the V5 then everyone is happy even if its not what we would ...

Before I have a realistic chance of getting my hands on a RHD 356?

Will £20k even get me in the door anymore?

Only requirement is that it be original RHD and have the correct engine number to match the registration documents. It doesn't have to be matching numbers in the strict sense.

Golf R32 +1 on that, last big engined golf. infact the big engine cars of the naughties might all become classic as even performace cars turn to smaller cc and forced induction so SL55, SLK55, M5 (E39 or later), M6 (especialy the cab, RS6 etc etc either that or the R8, i think that is a classic pie...
