I looked at this car about 4 years ago before I bought my blue one. At the time the owner lived near Leighton Buzzard, Buckinghamshire and the car was offered at £5,500. It hadn't been used much for the previous few years and didn't have an MOT. It was leaking fuel, and had a severe "clonk"...

I tried Halfords 12 months ago but found they didn't do them any more. In the end I bought a pair of 5" diameter spots from my local motor factors. They had been in stock for years and I got them for £20.

I didn't realise you wanted both either. What you want to do is entirely feasible as the harness bar is bolted into the upper belt mounting points. (You'll need to remove the central fixing point for the the harness bar too which is ...

Helen - I'm really pleased you have it sorted and only sorry it happened so early in your ownership. Hopefully you can enjoy it to the full now (in dry weather of course!)

Good to hear of the progress with the TR - will you be sad to see it go?

By the way, I've changed my avatar as suggested!

Hi Barry

Yes - I'm pretty good now thanks. By the way, in the garage (amongst other things) are four Dunlop 13" 5 1/2 J solid steel wheels shod with 185/60 tyres - any ideas what they fit??

Yes, I guess under normal circumstances I would have done but due to some rather unexpected events at the beginning of the year, it just got forgotten

The distributor is a CAN SVDA with Petronix electronic ignition, but I doubt very much if that is the culprit. If it is a complete mis-fire on one bank, check the throttle linkage is still OK. However, the most likely culprit is dirt in the carb as I suffered a similar problem last year - the 48 DRL...
