M6 28th May, 914 & early 911 race car...
Hi All Spotted while driving North (having collected my 997) towards 'The Lakes' on the M6 around 12:30... An orange 914 headed south around J24 then around J29 an off white early 911 (SWB?) on a trailer going North. The 911 was wearing roundels and 'race' numbers, in off white with white roundels a...

Total Retro Show 12th May 2023.
Hi All
A little last minute but is anyone going to 'Total Retro' at the Westmoreland County Show Ground this weekend (Sunday May 12th).
As it's barely two miles from me I'll be in the 550 'rep' even if it rains...
Come and say "Hi" if you're attending...

Re: M&W 550 Overhaul...
Hi All Here’s my latest bit of fakery, as I’m sure you have read my car has a type I engine (that’s 546 ‘types’short of what the real thing has) and as I’m not likely to be buying a Fuhrmann four cam anytime soon (or ever) these seemed like a little bit of fun… https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240...

Re: M&W 550 Overhaul...
Hi All Time for a small update, while only a small detail it’s a very tactile one… The ‘cheap & cheerful’ Beetle style gear knob has cracked (yes, I may be a little ham fisted) so its Roger Bray Restorations to the rescue with a rather smart Bakerlite 356 replacement. https://uploads.tapatalk-cd...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Hi All
Running a week or so late with this but my new ‘centre caps’ have arrived and I’ve fitted them to Alice my ‘Kettle’.
I rather like their simple retro look.

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
I’ve got sport 4s’s on the GT4 - really like them - nice and predictable in the wet or damp unlike the cup2s that it came with which were squirrely as f*ck over anything damp. A bit of phlegm on the road and you’d be wondering what hedge you’d end up in Glad to hear another recommendation for the 4...

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Hi All Not strictly what 'I did' or even 'today' but yesterday I collected my 997 C2S ‘Daily’ from having it’s new wheels & tyres fitted, so now while no longer having an early 911 at least the wheels look similar… For those who care about such things the wheels are made by Retro Alloys (in Ital...

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20231009/bb1b4130109ef1f009d32d47888a1739.jpg Not today but yesterday it stoped raining for long enough (well almost long enough) to get the ‘Rep’ out for a little run… Let’s hope it’s not the last one of the year! Re: Audi TT, any comments?
FWIW if you really want a sports car (and it's as you say 'hard to justify') rather than a small two seat GT, then I'd suggest looking at an S2 (or latter) Elise. After GM's involvement with the VX220/Opel Speedster build quality and reliability improved in 'leaps & bounds'. With a hard top fitt...
