Sounds like a fun project! very interested in the megasquirt stuff but never jumped in... maybe next year. I remember too well setting up an MBE system on a bike engine and how long that took on a dyno... A loose/ rattly rear window can add massively to the noise from the engine compartment, check a...

I would say the sensible choice is the T4 especially if it will be used everyday to some extent. I have a 1.7D T25 which i started converting into a camper and even as an empty panel van it is very slow compared to modern traffic. It manages about 67MPH flat out on the motorway which typically is cr...

Check on 914world, US site but sooo much information on there, everybody seems to be doing conversions at the moment. I cant see any year being more difficult, only possibly the use of the earlier (pre 73) type gearbox with tail shifter?! At the overall cost of the conversion i cant see that being a...

My parents drive to Stuttgart every couple of weeks and it takes on average 8hrs from Calais in Merc Estate keeping to speed limits. They always stop in Duren as a half way stop/ fuel. If you like your clothes take a quick detour to Metzingen (my mum's home town). Lots of shops and the Hugo Boss fac...

It is the same part number as the early 911 one so i would have thought 19mm. I almost went this route too. Roger Bray is very expensive! i should be able to get you either a 17 or 19 direct from Germany for around 200euro if interested?

That is a great story and very interesting find! Prescott is a great place and the gents there are really helpful. Great stories and history too. My student racing team was and still is sponsored by the Bugatti trust. I even won the Bugatti Trust student prize in 2008! Good contact would be ...

I've been cheating in the snow around sussex... 8) When not in this, trusty 406 diesel with snow tyres does the biz. Snow tyres are a must if you want to be able to drive round stranded cars with a smile on your face. (i have done my bit by getting a couple of BMW's out of ditches in the disco tho) ...

I used a piece of 4x2 the width of the car to spread the load for the lift, seems to work well as there will be hardly any weight in the chassis and the underside of the firewall is almost completely flat. This way i could also support the car either side on stands with the jack in the middle while ...

Thanks! I can almost see the end of this project and i will once again be a 914 driver not just owner... Yes, slot mags on Dad's car. I've never seen them in 4x130 before but they fill the arches nicely! Now if only it were ever allowed to roll on those rims... More work done on the car...

Wel i've been busy and i'm hoping that i can get the engine back in tomorrow... if my girlfriend lets me in the garage, she would rather go out in the Ford Pop......
