Le Mans 24Hr 100th - CAMPING TICKET - Beausjour - Yellow

I have a spare Le Mans 24 Hour (100th!) camping ticket. Its for Beausejour, which for those that know is the yellow one, in the middle, which ajoins porsche curves. The camping ticket is PER CAR not per person, so bring as many as you like....but you will still need an event ticket, and it is sold o...

Re: 911SC (RHD) project swap or p/ex for RHD aircooled 911 on the road?

Hi your both right, Basically I am weighing up two things: * Swapping my time for cash, by just buying something on the road and "part exin", or near the road, or just needing an engine rebuild (i have a spare) OR * swapping my cash for a car with more end value, on the basis that it "...

911SC (RHD) project swap or p/ex for RHD aircooled 911 on the road?

Essentially is anyone interested in a 911 project swap or p/ex against an aircooled 911 which is on the road? Cash your way of course.... I have a 1979 911SC RHD project to swap or part/ex. Im just putting it out there.......I am right on the tip of starting some serious restoration work, and once I...

Re: engine rebuild, sell it, what to do, where to go

There's also the debate about whether a top end rebuild is a feasible thing. Can it actually be done or does the case have to come apart to get the whole thing back together properly. Then does it solve the problem? If it's valve guides, can a heads-only job (oo-er) do the trick? If the guides are ...

Re: Annoying droning noise from the brakes

It could also be the brake shims maybe, or maybe the orientation of the pistons. I'm a bit rusty, but im thinking the pistons had a specific angle for orientation. You can solve the problem for sure. Here is what I would do, swap your calipers from left to right. If you can move the noise from one s...

Re: Floor pan : Dansk vs Restoration Design vs Retroline

Thanks for the extra info all. By all accounts the Restoration Design does seem to be a no-brainer. I will be sure to heed the advice. I am not yet at the point where I am going to pull the trigger, but either way as you say its a small cost, so might as well buy the best.

Re: engine rebuild, sell it, what to do, where to go

Just to add my 2 cents. As above if you don't do that many miles, just put it off for now, but keep the car. Sadly I have had to hang on to 911's by my fingertips for most of my life. All those cool engine High compression, twin plug, EFI/ITB rebuilds are just fantasy for me (but I am saving lol). I...

Re: Annoying droning noise from the brakes

Check your brake disc for run out (warpage), that would give a vibration or "judder". Better to measure, but your might be able to eyeball it by spinning the disc while focusing on a fixed reference point, such as disc to caliper

Re: Floor pan : Dansk vs Restoration Design vs Retroline

thanks for the replies, really helpful to actually have a Dansk, RD, and Retroline experience! Based on the above, I will go for the restoration design items for the floor pan pieces. For the sills I was already leaning towards the OE outers, so that seals it. That said I will try the dansk ones I a...

Floor pan : Dansk vs Restoration Design vs Retroline

Hi All, A quick question on floor pans for a RHD 79' (911). I can see there are 4 main options for manufacturer : Dansk Restoration Design Retroline Porsche I am not actually going to fit a full pan, Its more the sides where the sills have eaten further into the pan, and I will cut a new pan as need...

Re: Cover on tunnel and sill trim question

Hi Roger, ive never seen a cover for the tunnel bit, it is normally hidden by the carpet (carpet over). Im not sure on the sill trims, I have used both rivets and screws. Depending on the hole size (i.e screw loose). Im not sure exactly what would be original. I know some of the early cars had clear...

Hi Ian, no a little far from me at the moment, but i think its a great idea!! I probally have something like 10-15 boxes of 911/912 bits i could share, but its not a priority for me to do so at the moment. I checked your post, kinda interested in the 1.7, but more the flywheel if you have one as I h...

Porsche 914 Flywheel

Hi, im looking for a Porsche 914 flywheel. I "think" they are all the same, 215mm space for clutch disc. I've seen i can buy them new....which I might, but first thought I would see what is around and condition, as its only a temp engine while i rebuild my current. Will need posting, I kno...

Re: Wanted Gearbox Output Flanges

Just to say im sorted now, i have decided to leave the gearbox flanges as they are, and have found these below which work, Basically its a 25 spine inner CV hub with a 108mm (6 x M10) outer CV. Will need a bit of machining (width), but fundamentally it works, and means I can mix a SC driveshaft to a...
