Subjective i know, but a Rapide is a far more complete design from the outside than a Panamera.yoda wrote:Rapide S is nice from the inside where you don’t have to look at it. Think about the poor public who do though!

Re: Getting a car that isn't a 911
Valid points, but, whilst there, i suggest you drive a Vantage S, and a V12 Vantage, even just to satisfy curiosity. I've had two 911s, and two Vantages, the steering and control weightings on the 2012 and newer Vantages are delightful. I have never driven a Rapide, so i cant comment, but for stylin...

Aston Martin Vantage V12 S.
A bicycle JUST about fits in the passenger seat or boot, or you can use a Sea Sucker (though it makes me feel a bit anxious).
Hell of a car, and it feels like a piece of history already.

I think, as i somewhat suspected, i shall pass.
I wonder if £50k ish is a little hopeful for a good useable car.
Thank you for the wisdom.

I would prefer a private sale but there seems to be very l...

Whilst you are thinking about what to invest in, i would stick your cash in the new (to the uk) Goldmans run Marcus savings account. 1.5% easy access, and can put up to £200k in.
Dont think you will beat that easily.

Re: AM experience
Hello there. I have had two Vantages, the first straight after a manual 996 c2. First was a 2005 4.3 Vantage. I fell in love with it when i went for a test drive, though one has to admit it wasn't quite as dynamically nimble and 'just so' as the 911 it replaced, but i wanted a change and the looks, ...

Re: Is it madness...
I keep flirting with the idea of getting back into 912/911s, but i get frustrated at the new price levels, compares to what i've had before and the prices paid. I currently have a newish Aston Martin Vantage for GT duties, and an early Lotus Elan plus 2 for summer jaunts. I know everyone pushes for ...

Re: With all due respect
Nothing wrong with being honest, i just dont see it as nearly a £50k car. Its a (apparently nicely spec'd) mongrel.
£50k still buys you a mega 912, with the right bits.
I think, once you factor in transport and tax, its probably worth loosely what hes paid for it, at best. But we shall see.

Re: 912 Smokey McAlternator
Have you got a multi meter? Battery should read 12v ish with nothing on. Start car, should dip down then jump up to about 13.5v ish with engine running. If it stays around 12v then you dont have a charge, so alternator/dynamo is not working. If it pops up to 14.5+ v and varies with revs then the reg...
