Re: 914-6 Oil Tanks

Love to come and have a look. Where are you based? I think I asked once before but I've forgotten. I'd be concerned about mounting the tank underneath on a road car... speed bumps and flying rocks could be a problem. I was thinking the ally tank under the wheelarch could have the same problem with s...

Re: 914-6 Oil Tanks

Which parts of the discussion pushed you towards the original, Ian? How expensive was it - was it much more than $800 for the Patrick Motorsports tank?

Re: 914 value?

What he said... a lot more info needed... 6 cylinder conversions seem to be low to high teens, depending on spec and condition. Not seen any over £20k yet, but I've not really been looking. I paid 11k for mine with a 3.0 lump, which with hindsight was too much for the condition, but with a bit of ti...

Re: 914-6 Oil Tanks

Thanks for the inputs! My battery is in the boot as well. I'm kind of in favour of doing something in the OEM location, but I'm not obsessive about it. However, there's a hole already cut in the inner wing for the filter, so moving that will make more work. What size of tank have you gone for? Patri...

914-6 Oil Tanks

I bought a 914-6 conversion that has a lot of good bits on it, but needs taking apart and putting back together properly. One of the things that needs doing on it is the oil tank. The one that's on there is a cut and shut job in steel, which isn't at all pretty, and I don't trust it, in terms of fil...

That blog is a good read. I was surprised to see that you're claiming novice status. Some big jobs being handled pretty well in there I reckon.

Re: Rust???? Surely not...

Are you DIY for the welding or looking to have it done by someone else? I know a guy who's a very good welder-fabricator, and has worked on 914s before.

Yoke arrived safe and sound - it was about 10 days ago - I forgot to update.

Cheers!

Re: Engine stand yoke

Sounds ideal then! I'll take a yoke with the optional HD bench mounting part, so I can use it either way.

Can you PM me a cost, including postage, and your location in case you're close enough for a pickup. I'm in Windsor but 'I get around a bit' ;)

Re: Engine stand yoke

Do you make two distinct versions of this - normal and heavy duty, or is the heavy duty bit you refer to just the bench mounting? Interested in one to rebuild a 3.0 6 cyl lump. Beefier version if there are two. Is the engine stand version the same size tube as the bench mounted? In that case, I'd bu...

Re: Restoration

I was at Autosport at the weekend, and chatted to another company who have started offering a dipping service, based in Staffs. They reckon their process is much safer and kinder to the car, as they use a neutraliser tank to fully neutralise all the acid and dry the shell using heat to evaporate out...

Re: Roll cage - used FREE (ish)

You have a PM... I know a man who could easily fix that, and a man who needs a cage for a 911.
