Very fortunately, twice drove a 1936 Alfa 2300 (straight-cut gears, 2 1/2" exhaust, the lot!) for about 50 miles on the A39 in N Devon & Cornwall 20 or so years ago. Still can remember the sensation of speed - even at 50. Just an amazing car - RHD - and a wonderful experience.

I'm about to fit the 100W conversion bulbs with 2 new Bosch Headlight Units.
Will report back when done, I thought my standard units were getting a bit dim (like the driver) and then realised only the off side headlight was working on dipped beam. No further excuse needed, then!

My thoughts almost exactly! You're putting the outlets a bit closer together, but here's a pic of mine. Here's hoping I can remember the way to do this.... <a href="http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii142/abash914/?action=view&current=PICT0001.jpg" target="_blank"><img src=&...

Rod, I was in this exact position 18 months ago and went for Option 3. Yerman is capable of producing JUST what YOU want, undrestands about the gas flows etc required to ensure the air-cooled motor can breath properly (he's a 912 owner - but don't hold that against him!) and will listen while you te...

Welcome! There are also a couple of 914s for sale on Pistonheads. Don't know what they're like, but worth a dig.
Hope to see you out in das Mittel Motor soon.
