Re: 914 2.0 > 3.0 GT Conversion

Thanks for the input Wayne. I planned to lift the front too once I'd got the engine in a little further. I needed the extra height in the rear to clear the rear panel. With the car at the height it is at the moment someone asked why I don't just take the driveshafts out and then put them back in aft...

Re: 914 2.0 > 3.0 GT Conversion

After a couple of hours fighting with the rear trunk torsion bars it was time to start the engine install. To be honest I didn't really have the time and the plan was to get the engine as far in as I could ready to lift up and bolt in tomorrow afternoon. However I only got this far when I realised I...

GT is looking great Stephen, really very nice !!
Cheers Chris. Yep that's just the look and exactly what mine now look like. I placed an order for the wing nuts with a three week lead time. They arrived less than a week after I ordered them

Re: 914 2.0 > 3.0 GT Conversion

Finishing off the interior... I bought new door panels a couple of years ago with a big bundle of parts. I won't go into details here but I had a few issues with them and had to completely strip them down. modify and recover them. That was quite a frustrating weekend but the end result was worth it....

Re: 914 2.0 > 3.0 GT Conversion

A very busy summer working meant I didn't get as much done as I'd have liked. I did however spend time finishing off a few bits and revisiting a few others. Not much really worth photographing hence the thread being rather quiet. My original fuel tank wasn't in the best condition and I decided to re...

Re: PMO Watershield Nut Size?

Thanks Keith, I've just managed to find some others too. Like those they're made to order so a few weeks to wait. I'll place an order though. Cheers.

Re: PMO Watershield Nut Size?

. I seem to remember they're UNC - but an unusual American size - something like 12-24 ... . A bit more research and with the help of an engineering friend. We managed to identify the thread as UNC 12-24. Top marks Andy. Now the challenge is to find wingnuts that size in the UK. I'll look ...

Nice work Gary. It's a tricky area, just think yourself lucky repair panels are available. I didn't have that luxury with mine. Until after I finished of course when repair panels became available.

Why use a wing nut that can come loose/off if not wired tight or is their use for looks?
Purely aesthetics, I like the look of them. I'll drill them and wire them with springs too.

Re: PMO Watershield Nut Size?

Sounds silly but try B & Q of all places. I got some imperial wing nuts for a rain cover for a Beetle recently. Helped that I could take the bolt down, and try the various ones they have in small packets. Nothing is silly if it works! B&Q have a store just a few miles away, I'll give ...

PMO Watershield Nut Size?

I've lost my nuts!

It appears they're not metric and therefore I'm lost

Ideally I'd like to get some wingnuts but M5 are too small and M6 too big.

Does anyone know the correct size? Thanks.

Black 72 914 - Battlesbridge, Essex.

Couldn't believe my eyes, the first 914 I've ever seen on the road randomly.

I think the reg began with a P and it was a K registration. You look happy with the Targa off in the sun!
