It is now adjusted. I think the floor board might have not been located in both places and the allen keys holding the stop were lose(ish). To get it right, so that it engages 1/2 way up, I have ended up with 15-18mm of free play however I am not sure how to measure this. If I measure between the ped...

There is quite a lot about this on Pelican. It seems that 210 is not a problem but 250 might be. Also that synthetic oils are better at coping with the heat. On the plus side at least you will be getting rid of any impurities in the oil. 210 is also in the middle of the gauge which implies that it i...

Thank you both. Armed with the manual I will have a look at the clutch adjustment today. I do not think it has changed at all it is just that I am moving down the list of things that do not seem quite right. I cannot remember what the 1st/reverse selection was like in my old 911 or any other one tha...

Clutch / swepco (915 box)
First and reverse are hard to engage silently on the first start of the day. Once warm, provided the clutch is down for a couple of seconds, all is well. Although I have not tried to adjust it there does not seem to be much adjustment left on the adjuster at the gearbox end. I assume the clutch is n...

Speakers in door cards
If the speakers are mounted in the door cards they must protrude into the door and presumably go through the plastic membrane ... so what keeps them from getting wet when it rains?

You are probably right. I should have not tried to connect the two points. 1) The standard (looking) silencer that I picked up was very heavy. I wondered if there are any lighter but quietish alternatives. And 2) I do not like the way my car feels like it initially wants to go straight on instead of...

911 Silencer weight
Yesterday at Hus. Crawley I picked up (physically) a standard silencer box. It was incredibly heavy. I was thinking of changing mine as I have a very noisy one that looks like the one that Lightweight_911 was selling for 914 a while back. My new 911 understeers more than I am happy with and putting ...

Thanks That make sense. I will put it back together and put a voltmeter on the battery and see what is really happening as you suggest. There is a lot of stuff on Pelican about replacement alternators with an internal VR. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/electrical/alt_tech_art2.jpg It men...

Wiring - no regulator ???
I have no power to the wur unit. I traced it back through no 2 fuse on the back bulkhead. And then to the wur relay which has four wires :- red/black - to fuse box red-white - to wur via big (14) connection block black - supposed to go to the regulator brown - supposed to go to the regulator When I ...
