im in the midst of making mein 912 into a rallye car.. what im looking for is a set of replica period correct rallye tires (or tyres as you gents say), that are good for tarmac/street use, and have decent performance. .. oh they need to be affordable is there such a thing? im going for a rallye look...

migs.. you dont really need them, and they dont really have much of a benefit, unless youre going to change and adjust your ride height all the time. other than that.. there isnt a benefit to having them. everyone i know who has em says they are a waist.

what are you timing it at? the 050, in a 356 or 912 engine should be timed at 33 degrees btdc, at 3000 rpm. (anywhere between 30-34 should do fine really) if you time her right, she will run like a top. the 050 can be a bitch to time, b/c of where it has to be set at, so its best to get one of those...
