have you checked to see if the reservoir feed pipe for the front brake circuit hasn't just come undone? If it has it would explain why the fluid poured out when you topped up, & why the front circuit is now not operating ( eg the front cicuit now hasn't enough fluid in it / air sucked into it) ...
