1985 Targa shell

Black , RHD , not crashed or damaged , full ID attached and stamped, and V5 .. ie no "catches" , virtually rust free (I can only find one small area needing repair work). I bought it to "rob" parts off - not yet removed ... but they will be , but I may as well start the ball roll...

Engine flush .... as in oil ? Just my opinion , but I can't for the life of me make any connection between this and compression / cylinder pressure figures. (I'm sure someone else will have an opinion !) My guess would be engine was at a different temp , or you had the throttle further open , or ?? ...

I would not mount to either parcel shelf or bulkhead ... assuming you want them to be of use in an accident ! Best place is on a transverse tube , welded in as part of the cage. This keeps the belt run as short as possible (they do stretch) and you can get them at the right angle too. Not very perio...

Mine (2.4E) has just been started after sitting for 5 years. Took out plugs , turned it over till I had oil pressure showing , plugs in and fired up very quickly and easily .. even with 5 yr old petrol in it ! Brakes were not so quick "sort".

Yip ... about 18 miles at the last count !
Look on the bright side ... I did get my first new inner sill welded on today , which makes a change from cutting out rusty bits

Sorry , I did not make myself as clear as I could have. Keeping opening 1/4 windows is not important ... in fact I won't , they will be replaced by a piece of glued in (rubber too heavy !) see through plastic ! Sounds like what I need is a set of frames off a later car with fixed 1/4's. I would hate...

Window frame question ?

I am at the door dismantling stage ... notice that my 66 car has (apart from the opening quarter window) chromed brass "metalwork". It weighs a b.... ton ......... and needless to say I would like something a lot lighter ! Did the later cars have this frame in aluminium and is it interchan...

I must not understand , how can the coupler be left loose (in rotational terms) - it's on fine splines and can only be inserted to the end of the gearchange tube (not twisted when in situ ?) The opposite end of the coupler (gearbox) can only go in one position (tapered screw) ... The only thing that...

Gears gone missing !!

Quick teaser , covered before but not in sufficient detail to help me. Gear change was not great ... had all 5 and reverse , but care required when changing. (car is a 73 E by the way) Having got brakes nice and free after 10 yrs of non use , decided gear change was next on my list ...can't be a pro...
