Re: Unstamped 356/912/industrial timing cover/3rd case piece please!
I thought that the 356 and 912 3rd pieces were different due to the different engine mounting arrangements in the different cars? Not sure as I haven't seen a 912 up close. Neil Bardsley will know. Aah- it’s a 912 one I need, and I’ve only got 912 ones here at the moment to compare! In that case ye...

Re: RHD 912 numbers
Add in WFH754H, looks to be within the last 200 numbers of the last 912 produced, so possibly one of the last U.K. cars. Was for sale on Facebook and ebay recently, very rusty, red, no engine. Vin is 129000226. So after a number of flips on the web with ever increasing prices, it became a post turt...

Re: RHD 912 numbers
HBL918G, rotting out at the side of a road in Somerset I last tried to buy it in 2012, they won’t sell because its sentimental. It’s now unviable after another 10 years outside in a bush.

Re: That Vestey car….
Hi Dai. I have been following your thread on the early 911. Myself and Robert Barrie have done some research on a car that was originally raced in the 1970’ s by a guy called John Akers . I still haven’t been able to find the car , I am friends with the original mechanic that used to work on a few ...

Re: That Vestey car….
That’s the guy. Before the kempes he did his 52 which was a chassis out job, then the kempes which was buried up to its roof gutters in a Swedish forest, then the Kohlruss which is the only one known of its kind and was found in the woods in Austria, which he still has now

Re: That Vestey car….
looks like it couldn't be in better hands ... . Who's the restorer? A good friend of mine in Tewkesbury called Mark Spicer, who runs www.type29.co.uk and has been previously specialising in 1950-1955 VW barndoor transporters (He’s currently doing my 1950 panelvan) so is used to fabrication and gett...

Re: That Vestey car….
Today was probably a significant day, it kind of felt like it anyway. The reason being was that it was roof day. A lot of tweaks, straightening and tlc had already gone on ‘under the skin’ so to speak, but today was the day the little car got it’s lid back! https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/23...

Next up it was the rear seat bases which are always peppered after a blast. Slice and dice, fit and splice. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2347958.jpg https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2347957.jpg Done bar a bit of finishing. Some more panels have been turning up so it was time to tri...

Re: That Vestey car….
A bit more progress on the tin, long overdue! The A pillar was next in the firing line. It was horrible, pushed in, rusted, and with a bonus piece slotted in from another car that wasn’t even attached! https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/2347963.jpg Here’s the random extra https://www.thesamba.c...

Your car is quite a bit earlier than mine, so perhaps mine had the wrong inner wing popped in at the factory, then when they realised they should have had the blanked one they just welded a plate on rat...
