Euro indicators

I've recently changed my US style headlamps to H4's and now want to change the indicators to euro versions with the sidelights in within them. The units without the lenses seem to be pretty expensive at £140 each! The lenses I've seen are £38.

Anyone know of any cheaper euro units or any advise on adapting the US versions to take the side lights?

Cheers.

what "units" are you refering to? surely its just a lens switch you need to get to UK spec?

If you use Bosch H4 headlamps to replace your US sealed beam units then they have sidelights within the headlamp units - rewire your sidelights to these 'pilot lamps' & use Euro lenses on your existing US indicator assemblies.

Incidentally, where have you seen Euro indicator/sidelights for £140 ?

Buy! Buy! Buy!

They are over £300 from Porsche.

You should not fit Euro lenses to US housings without blanking off the front section to prevent the indicator showing white. You could also manufacture a holder for the sidelight to get the correct "euro" style. Porsche modify US housings to create euro housings rather than moulding a different housing altogether.

Thanks chaps...

The units I have seen are from design 911. http://www.design911.co.uk/
Go to 'Lighting & Parts' and 'Indicators Front'.

I realise that I can wire my side lights into the H4's, but I've always liked the euro look of the side lights being in the indicators.

Nick as you mentioned I thought about just buying the euro lenses and making up a blanking section to divide the side lights from the indicators, but ideally I thought it would be nice to fit the correct unit.

So is £139 cheap?!!

Or you could paint the indicator bulb yellow

If you are not aware the new plastic housings are just that and no more-they are great if you have old units to take out the backing covers and looms plus the internal reflectors and holder/lens and then you will need new seals. If you don't have those bits they can't be used. Peter Andrews

Peter is right, you need the platic connector plate off the old unit, its usually still attached to the car anyway. The Roger Bray units are metal, not plastic.

I have original US style units in there at the moment with metal reflectors, will these directly swap over with the plastic euro ones then without any extra bits?

OK here goes, these should be 3 pictures of the Bray units

They are each £52 for the metal case and a further £17.67 for the wiring and the rear plastic plate, all plus the evil VAT

I think they are pretty fair value

they are US spec so mods are needed for Euro configuration, or just wire the sidelight to the space in the H4 lamps

chrome finish is nice and shiny but not beautifully smooth, the edges get covered by the gaskets, and at least the lenses I bought from maria halbeck (911teile) on ebay.de fit perfectly

rear of case is bare shiny cast metal so I will either hammerite or POR 15 for durability

ordered Friday last, arrived Monday

lovely

hope this helps

Jp
